Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines Roll Out Free Lightning-Fast Wi-Fi for Atmos Rewards Members with T-Mobile
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are set to enhance the travel experience by providing complimentary, high-speed inflight Wi-Fi to members of their combined loyalty program, Atmos™ Rewards, thanks to the advanced technology from T-Mobile. This initiative signifies a major leap towards ensuring that travelers stay connected while soaring at thousands of feet above the ground.
A New Era of Connectivity
Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines have achieved a significant milestone, rolling out ultra-fast, complimentary Wi-Fi across approximately 150 aircraft within their fleets. This includes 100% of all regional jets and the first 50 mainline flights equipped for the swiftest internet access available - powered by Starlink, known as the 'fastest Wi-Fi in the sky'. Beginning June 2026, this service aims to create a seamless travel experience, with the full implementation expected to be complete by mid-July.
This innovation not only places Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines at the forefront of inflight connectivity but also enhances the overall guest experience. Currently, Atmos Rewards members can easily access the complimentary Wi-Fi service through a new onboard portal, specifically designed to streamline the connection process. With just a few taps, passengers can sign up for, or log into, their Atmos Rewards account, providing easier access to the complimentary service.
The Role of T-Mobile
T-Mobile has been a vital partner in this endeavor, credited for its significant contributions in making complimentary Wi-Fi a reality for travelers. Shane Jones, Senior Vice President at Alaska Airlines, emphasized the importance of T-Mobile's involvement, stating, "For years, T-Mobile has played a key role in keeping our guests connected. We couldn’t have done it without T-Mobile as we continue to raise the bar for the experience across Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines."
Mike Belcher, Head of Partnerships at T-Mobile, echoed these sentiments, noting that the partnership has redefined traveler expectations regarding inflight connectivity. The easy access to complimentary Wi-Fi will allow passengers to stay connected throughout their journey, regardless of their travel destination.
Fast, Free, and Fun
The Starlink service not only allows browsing but also streaming of live sports, movies, and shows directly on passengers' personal devices, providing a more flexible in-flight entertainment experience compared to traditional systems. With speeds reaching up to 500 Mbps, which is reportedly seven times faster than legacy inflight Wi-Fi systems, guests can enjoy connectivity similar to what they experience at home.
Additionally, joining Atmos Rewards is free and incredibly simple, offering guests the ability to earn and redeem miles while unlocking unlimited gate-to-gate connectivity. Family travelers can also benefit, as children under 18 can connect using their reservation details without needing a separate account.
Future Developments
Following Hawaiian Airlines' pioneering introduction of Starlink to the skies in 2024, Alaska Airlines has also begun installing high-speed Wi-Fi across its fleet, ensuring it can provide the same standard of connectivity across all its routes. This includes plans to expand the service onto long-haul international flights by fall 2026, which will see Starlink tech installed on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
As Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines aim to lead the industry with their innovative inflight services, travelers will no longer need to disconnect while flying. Instead, they can look forward to a connected journey, filled with entertainment and the ability to stay in contact with the world all thanks to this new partnership with T-Mobile. With ongoing advancements and installations expected to complete by 2027, this collaboration sets a new standard for inflight services and guest experiences.
