This Summer, Bubble Wrap ‘Putiputi’ Becomes a Unique Playground Attraction

The Innovative Let’s! PLAY! PUTIPUTI! at PLAY! PARK

This summer marks a remarkable event as Kawakami Industries, known for its bubble wrap packaging product “Putiputi®,” collaborates with A and B Holdings to introduce a new playground experience at the indoor park, PLAY! PARK. The innovative play structure is designed under the concept of encountering the unknown, inviting children to engage in free play relevant to their imagination.

Background of Using Putiputi®

Traditionally used for packaging and cushioning, the material of Putiputi® has caught attention for its unique texture and versatility. It seamlessly transforms from utility to playful innovation, embodying the spirit of creativity. The park's director, Takaharu Tezuka, a distinguished professor in architectural design, supervised the creation, aiming to offer children an extraordinary experience with the new structure named “Let’s! PLAY! PUTIPUTI!”

The debut of this attraction represents the first new will creation since 2021, promising an exciting addition to the park's offerings. The distinctive properties of Putiputi®, being lightweight and soft, enhance safety during play while encouraging exploration and interaction among kids, reflecting the park's objectives.

The Fascination with Bubble Wrap

The appeal of bubble wrap extends beyond simple packaging. Nearly everyone has relished the tactile pleasure of popping the bubbles, which can alleviate stress and improve mood. Composed of over 80% recycled polyethylene, Putiputi® is also designed with the environment in mind. The air pockets within the material not only protect items but can also serve practical purposes during emergencies—providing warmth and insulation, proving it to be a multifaceted asset.

Learning Through Play at PLAY! PARK

Created in June 2020, PLAY! PARK serves as a vibrant indoor space for children to explore and express their creativity. Designed in collaboration with Tezuka Architects, the 1,000 square meter area is beautifully crafted to inspire free thought. Within the park, children can play in ten distinct zones, each featuring unique activities—including a factory area for hands-on creativity, and an art corner inspired by Eric Carle’s beloved characters.

What’s more, daily workshops are conducted catering to infants and elementary school children, facilitating opportunities for learning and interaction amongst peers.

Explore creativity and imagination at PLAY! PARK, and witness the delightful transformation of Putiputi® from packaging to play as you dive into the new “Let’s! PLAY! PUTIPUTI!” attraction.
