Buffalo Network Solutions Enhance Communication at Okhotsk Garinko Tower

Improving Network Efficiency at Okhotsk Garinko Tower

Buffalo Inc., based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced the successful implementation of its corporate Wi-Fi 6 access points, the WAPS-AX4, at the Okhotsk Garinko Tower Company. This upgrade aims to enhance communication across the various facilities spread over a vast area, promoting a stress-free working environment.

The Okhotsk Garinko Tower Company serves as a collaborative public-private entity working closely with the city of Monbetsu. It manages several attractions, including the Marine Exchange Center, the Okhotsk Tower, the ice floe sightseeing boat "Garinko-go," and several seal research facilities like the Seal Land and Seal Sea Paradise.

Given the expansive site covering several square kilometers, the company sought to improve network connectivity, leading them to replace old equipment starting August 2023. The distance between key facilities posed a challenge, but the implementation strategy included wireless communications between the Marine Exchange Center and the Seal Land, while fiber optics were employed to connect the approximately 550m distant Okhotsk Tower, along with an update of access points. This strategic move resulted in a stable communication environment, essential for their operations.

The specific products adopted for this enhancement included:
1. WAPS-AX4: Priced at ¥43,780 (excluding tax), this Wi-Fi 6 compatible access point boasts speeds of 1201+573Mbps, ideal for business environments. More details can be found on Buffalo's website.
2. WAPM-1266R: Another significant addition is the Wi-Fi 5 access point, WAPM-1266R, available for ¥48,400 (excluding tax), featuring intelligent model functionalities with speeds of 866+400Mbps. More information is available here.
3. WLE-HG-DA/AG: This outdoor antenna, priced at ¥27,280 (excluding tax), ensures long-distance wireless LAN communication. Check it out on Buffalo's product page.
