Market Enterprise and Mito City Launch Reuse Initiative for Sustainable Community Solutions

Collaboration to Foster Sustainability

On February 5, 2026, a pivotal partnership was formed between Mito City (Mayor: Yasushi Takahashi) and Market Enterprise Inc. (Central Tokyo, President: Yasushi Kobayashi, Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime - ticker 3135). The agreement aims to tackle local community challenges through a new reuse initiative leveraging the reuse platform "Oikura." This collaboration aims not only to reduce waste but also to create a circular economy in Mito City.

Since its inception, Market Enterprise has pursued a vision of becoming the optimal trading company to realize a sustainable society. The company actively participates in public-private partnerships, such as the 'Local Revitalization and SDGs Public-Private Partnership Platform', and engages in initiatives such as the 'Instrument Donation Furusato Tax Initiative'. On the other hand, Mito City has been comprehensively addressing waste reduction and resource recycling, with reuse as a top priority in its waste management efforts. Although household waste generation has seen a decrease, it remains high compared to national targets, making waste processing costs a growing concern due to rising labor and fuel prices.
