Innovating Local Food Futures: Highlights from Okayama University's Meeting
On May 18, 2026, Okayama University hosted the
LBS Setouchi Meeting, focusing on the future of regional food in the Setouchi area. President Yoshitomo Nasu delivered insightful discussions centered on the avatar of local food sustainability and business collaboration.
The event featured two main sessions. In the first, titled
"Innovation in Local Food – Connecting to the Future", President Nasu was joined by key industry figures such as Taizo Okubo, CEO of CR Holdings, and Kana Fujiwara, Vice President of Fujiwara Technoart. The dialogue revolved around leveraging local resources to create innovative industrial solutions and addressing community challenges through partnerships among businesses, academia, and government agencies.
The second session,
"Profiting from Local Brands", showcased businesses that thrive on unique local ingredients and practices. These participants shared their initiatives and emotional ties to the community, emphasizing the impact of regional branding on economic growth.
Attendees were able to taste dishes prepared with ingredients sourced from local businesses, providing them firsthand experience of the allure and potential of Setouchi’s culinary offerings.
