The Tomorrow Tokyo Project Launches Its Fifth Year

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in collaboration with the Tokyo Tourism Foundation, is thrilled to announce the start of the fifth year of the “Tomorrow Tokyo Project.” This community-driven initiative aims to rediscover the unique charms of Tokyo’s culture and nature, fostering a deeper understanding and affection among residents and local businesses while enhancing the welcoming atmosphere for visitors.

To kick off this year’s events, we are excited to invite participants to the first event, the “Edo Tokyo History Tourism.” This immersive experience encourages families to learn about and connect with Tokyo’s historical and cultural heritage while having fun together.

Edo Tokyo History Tourism: Explore, Listen, and Feel!

Participants will have the opportunity to experience the streets where Edo’s rich history and culture come to life. The event will feature guided tours of significant cultural landmarks from the Edo period, providing participants with a chance to engage with the art and history that shaped Tokyo.

Event Details:

• - Date: October 10 (Saturday), October 11 (Sunday), October 12 (Monday, Holiday), 2023
• - Time: Two sessions each day — 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
• - Activities:

- Guided walking tours around the Ryogoku Station area, enriching your understanding of Edo’s cultural landscape, including art inspired by Katsushika Hokusai, one of Japan’s most famous artists.
- Interactive workshops where participants can share insights and discoveries from the tours, allowing for a rich exchange of ideas and learning experiences.

Participant Information:

• - Expected Participants: Approximately 180 (30 participants per session, selected by lottery)
• - Participants: Elementary school students from grades 4 to 6 residing in Tokyo, along with their guardians.
• - Application Deadline: September 11, 2023, by noon.
