Celebrate New Year with Limited Edition Menus at Tsujiri
As we welcome the New Year, Tsujiri, a tea house company rooted in Kyoto's Gion district since 1860, is presenting a series of exclusive dishes to celebrate the occasion. From January 1st, these seasonal menus are designed to infuse the spirit of the New Year into every bite. Notably, a unique blend of hojicha and coffee, crafted exclusively for this season, will also debut at the Daimaru Shinsaibashi store starting January 3rd.
Features of the New Year Menu
Among the highlights is the "Hatsuharu White Miso Zoni Set," a delightful and traditional Kyoto-style dish that consists of a special white miso zoni complemented by a festive osechi platter. This dish is perfect for savoring the unique flavors of the New Year while wishing for a year free of sickness.
The zoni is a comforting bowl filled with seasonal ingredients like gold and red carrot flowers, turnip, taro, and round mochi, topped off with katsuobushi and mitsuba, thoughtfully prepared in a sweet white miso style that embodies the gentle taste of Kyoto.
Accompanying this is a beautifully arranged osechi that includes familiar dishes to Kyoto, such as dashimaki (Japanese rolled omelette), namasu (pickled vegetables), simmered dishes, and kamaboko (fish cake). The lower tier features delectable homemade sweets, complete with a gorgeous horse-shaped sweet made from white bean paste, symbolizing prosperity for the new year, alongside fukko-ume (sweet plum) and musubi-kombu (kombu tied with a knot) in the "Daifuku Tea," enhancing your festive dining experience.
Additional Seasonal Offerings
The limited-time offerings include various sweets tailored for the New Year, such as the "Welcoming Spring Matcha and Sweet Set," where homemade sweets are paired with fragrant matcha. The matcha, specifically prepared for the spring season, boasts a refreshing sweetness and deep umami, allowing patrons to unwind and enjoy a bright start to the New Year alongside the lingering notes of matcha.
One standout option, the "Senkyakubankai Parfait," features rich matcha soft-serve ice cream as the star, surrounded by an array of auspicious ingredients including matcha mont blanc, sweet chestnuts, and black soybeans. With layers of yuzu jelly and purple sweet potato mousse, this parfait is a vibrant experience that offers a delightful variety of flavors and a white miso kinako sauce for a unique twist.
Additionally available at the Daimaru Tokyo store is the "Hōrai," a dessert that combines smooth purple sweet potato espuma, chewy shiratama (glutinous rice dumplings), and matcha castella, paired with fragrant genmai tea ice cream and chestnut ice cream. Each element harmonizes beautifully for a satisfying tasting experience.
Exclusive Offering: Tsujiri Coffee
Furthermore, an innovative blend featuring hojicha and coffee, branded as "Tsujiri Coffee," will be available at the Daimaru Shinsaibashi location at the price of ¥1,150 (tax included). This unique beverage presents a comforting balance of the roasted flavors of hojicha and the rich depth of coffee, making it a perfect companion to any of Tsujiri's exquisite sweets. Enjoy it simply or with the addition of fresh cream or syrup for tailored flavors.
