The Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) is excited to announce the recent election of new leaders to its Board of Directors, aiming to bolster collaboration in disaster safety and resilience across various sectors. A New Era of Leadership
On November 6, 2025, FLASH introduced its newly elected leaders, who are poised to expand the organization's national influence. The new board members include Eric Nelson of Travelers, Kent Nafziger from Haas Door Company, and Chris Morris of The Stonegate Group LLC. Collectively, they bring diverse backgrounds in risk management, business strategy, and leadership, which are essential for advancing FLASH's objectives in disaster preparedness and community resilience.
Meet the New Board Members

Eric Nelson - As the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Catastrophe Risk Management at Travelers, Eric has a proven track record in risk evaluation and the development of underwriting strategies related to catastrophic events. His extensive leadership experience and advocacy for coastal mitigation strategies are vital assets to FLASH's efforts.

Kent Nafziger - Kent is the Vice President at Haas Door Company, overseeing multiple departments including Marketing and Product Development. With over 15 years in the garage door industry, his insights into product dynamics and industry engagement will support FLASH’s initiatives to promote disaster resilience in communities.

Chris Morris - Leading The Stonegate Group LLC, Chris specializes in creating actionable growth strategies in the building products and home services sectors. His background in construction innovation and technology-driven solutions is pivotal for advancing FLASH's mission.
New Leadership Partners
In addition to the Board of Directors, FLASH is also welcoming two new Leadership Partners:
- - Cheryl Nelson, an Emmy-nominated meteorologist and the founder of `Prepare with Cher`. With her vast experience in severe weather awareness and disaster preparedness, she will help educate various audiences on safety protocols amidst disasters.
- - John Zarrella, a former CNN correspondent and now JZ Media President, brings a wealth of knowledge in media coverage of natural disasters. His past advisory role for FLASH positions him well to contribute to the organization’s storytelling and outreach efforts.
