From January 24 to February 16, 2026, YUGEN Gallery Fukuoka invites you to immerse yourself in the thought-provoking works of Keita Ando at his solo exhibition titled "Scorching Heat and Decay / Bitter Cold and Sprouting." This exhibition serves as a continuation of Ando's previous showcase, "Scorching Heat and Decay," which took place at Art Space Baku in Fukuoka in 2023.

The exhibition features an impressive collection of around 50 new flat artworks, along with a selection of pieces created by contemporary artists who have significantly influenced Ando's artistic journey. These works, part of Ando's personal collection, reflect his ongoing relationship with the Southeast Asian art scene, allowing visitors to appreciate the depth of his creative evolution.

Keita Ando's Artistic Journey


Keita Ando is a talented painter born in 1992 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. He graduated from Kyushu Sangyo University, where his outstanding works earned him several awards, including the prestigious Koji Kikutani Prize. In 2019, he participated in an artist residency in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, further enriching his artistic practice.

Ando's achievements include accolades such as the Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program's selection and various prize recognitions. He aims to amplify the voices of emerging contemporary artists by showcasing diverse artworks beyond genre constraints at YUGEN Gallery, which embodies the essence of Japan's aesthetic principles.
