Energy Efficiency Brings Big Savings to Missouri Businesses
In a progressive move towards sustainability, Ameren Missouri has revealed that more than 230 commercial entities throughout its service region have reaped significant financial benefits from upgrading to high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Since July 2024, these businesses have saved over $2.9 million on their energy expenses as part of Ameren’s BizSavers program, which incentivizes energy efficiency improvements.
Kenny Blair, the program supervisor for energy efficiency at Ameren Missouri, emphasized the advantages of such initiatives. "Increased participation in programs like BizSavers is a win for everyone, lowering bills, reducing environmental impact and supporting a more resilient energy grid," he stated. The partnership between Ameren and its customers underlines the shared benefits of adopting energy-efficient equipment, proving that collaborative efforts can lead to mutual advantages.
In the last 12 months, participating businesses have completed over 380 HVAC upgrades, resulting in the conservation of 29.7 million kilowatt-hours (kWh). This substantial energy saving is akin to powering 32,383 households for an entire month.
Case Studies in Energy Savings
A few standout examples highlight the remarkable results of the program. Cozad Commercial Real Estate Ltd., for instance, has been a dedicated participant in the BizSavers initiative since its inception. Recently, it upgraded several clients' HVAC systems in St. Louis, achieving savings of more than 518,000 kWh of energy. In total, Cozad has completed 50 projects through the program, saving more than 2.6 million kWh and planning additional projects that are expected to yield savings of another 780,000 kWh later this year.
Louie Tocco, the director of property management at Cozad, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership with Ameren, saying, "We’re proud to partner with Ameren Missouri through the BizSavers program to help our clients reduce energy consumption and lower operating costs. By investing in energy efficiency, we’re not only saving thousands of kilowatt-hours across our portfolio but also delivering lasting value for our tenants and property owners."
MilliporeSigma, a leading name in the life sciences sector, has also embraced energy-saving initiatives under BizSavers. After upgrading its HVAC system in St. Louis, the company has saved over 466,000 kWh and has been part of the program for the past 12 years, accumulating total savings of more than 12.8 million kWh.
Another participant, Vista on the Park, along with Pollard Properties, successfully upgraded a 234-unit property in Wright City to a more energy-efficient HVAC system. Remarkably, this upgrade was completed at no added cost to residents, improving both comfort and efficiency in their homes while saving over 378,000 kWh in energy.
Adam Pollard, managing partner and developer of Pollard Properties, communicated the mission behind their partnership with Ameren. "We are always exploring ways to bring meaningful savings to our residents, and Ameren Missouri's BizSavers program presented a great opportunity to do just that. It was truly a win-win partnership, and we're proud to continue seeking out initiatives that deliver long-term value for our residents and our communities."
Continuing the Path to Sustainability
