Slovakia's Grand National Day at the Japan World Expo

On September 10th, the National Day of Slovakia was celebrated at the World Expo in Japan, marking a significant highlight in the country's global presentation. The event was graced by the presence of Peter Pellegrini, the President of the Slovak Republic, and it culminated six months of Slovakia's showcasing at this prestigious international exposition.

According to Matej Fekete, the General Director of Slovakia Travel, the Expo was centered around forging the future, and Slovakia emerged as a reliable partner in this endeavor. He emphasized, "Our six-month presentation in Osaka demonstrated that our country has much to offer, from cultural values to innovative solutions for a sustainable society."

Fekete also noted the tremendous impact of Slovakia’s participation, stating that it had successfully captured the world’s attention with its rich culture and commitment to sustainability. He said, "Our exhibit attracted millions of visitors and served as proof that we are a modern country with deep-rooted traditions and a visionary outlook for the future."

During the National Day celebrations, both President Pellegrini and Japan’s Minister in charge of the World Expo, Ito Yoshitaka, delivered speeches highlighting the significance of countries' participation in such prestigious international events. Following the formal program, President Pellegrini took a tour of Slovakia's exhibition, as well as other international pavilions.

Reflecting on the accomplishments of Slovakia, Pellegrini stated, "We have every reason to be proud, and I believe that in two years, we will showcase the beauties of our country in Belgrade. I frequently see how Slovakia discovers cutting-edge technologies and exceptional individuals, yet we speak very little about them. It would bring me joy to feature unique people and products from Slovakia in prestigious international forums in the future."

The President also extended his gratitude to all those who contributed to the preparation of Slovakia's presentation, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the team behind the exhibition.

Slovakia's participation in the World Expo will remain active until the final day of the Expo on October 13, 2025, providing a robust platform for cultural exchange and innovation.

Slovakia Travel serves as the national organization for tourism promotion in Slovakia, with a primary goal to foster tourism development both domestically and internationally. Their efforts during the World Expo are part of a larger strategy to highlight Slovakia's unique offerings to the world.

This year's World Expo not only displays technological advancements but also emphasizes cultural exchange and global cooperation. With Slovakia's strong representation, the hope is to inspire further dialogue and partnerships that enhance mutual understanding among nations. As we look to the future, Slovakia's commitment to innovation and sustainability stands at the forefront of its international image. The success of this event is expected to pave the way for more opportunities for Slovakia in the global arena.
