A Taste of Niijima
Rurubu Kitchen is a dining establishment curated by the editors of Rurubu, who travel across Japan to discover and present the nation's finest ingredients and culinary delights. The focus of this special offering is on Niijima and Shikinejima, two beautiful islands located approximately 160km south of Tokyo.
Niijima is renowned for its pristine white sand beaches, especially Habuura Beach, and its unique local stone, Koga stone, which creates spectacular landscapes. The island is also famous for its rich food culture, which you can only sample in this region. One of its renowned local dishes is the "tataki," made from fresh Blue Muroaji fillets, mixed with miso and ginger to create a flavorful paste.
In this collaboration, Rurubu Kitchen will feature a spring roll made with Blue Muroaji tataki, complemented by a side of nimble using the island's special vegetable, Asahisa. Diners can enjoy this delightful dish along with a choice of the finest local shochu in a special snack set.
Limited-Time Menu Highlights
Blue Muroaji and Cheese Spring Roll & Shochu Set - ¥1,350 (tax included)
This mouthwatering dish is made from Blue Muroaji tataki and miso-marinated cheese, making it a perfect pairing with local shochu. The spring roll's rich flavors and salty notes beautifully complement the shochu. For side accompaniment, you'll find the refreshing Asahisa nimble, a real treat from the island. Diners can select from two types of shochu:
1.
Jimata (じなた) - A rare sweet potato shochu aged in barrels for three years. It is noted for its rich aroma, gentle sweetness, and deep flavor profile that showcases the best of its quality.
2.
Habuura (はぶしうら) - A barley shochu inspired by the stunning Habuura Coast of Niijima. Expect a crisp fragrance and a light taste that elevates the overall dining experience.
