FollowFly Unveils the Luxurious ZEEKR 009 in Japan
FollowFly, a company based in Kyoto and led by CEO Hiroyasu Okama, has announced the domestic launch of the ZEEKR 009, a luxury electric MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) under the premium EV brand ZEEKR, which is part of Geely Holding Group that also owns Volvo. The vehicle is set to be showcased for the first time in Japan during the Japan Mobility Show 2025 scheduled for October, where a media conference will take place on October 29.
Introducing ZEEKR 009: A Unique Luxury MPV
The ZEEKR 009 stands out in the Japanese market as the only 7-seater luxury EV, boasting impressive dimensions of 5,209 mm in length, 2,024 mm in width, and 1,812 mm in height. It offers a spacious interior designed for comfort and relaxation, targeting consumers looking for innovative and exclusive options in the premium segment of the automotive market. This impressive model has already garnered positive reviews in other markets including Australia and Singapore, which contributed to its decision for FollowFly to introduce the vehicle in Japan.
Superior Comfort and Silent Performance
The interior of the ZEEKR 009 presents an exceptional travel environment, equipped with captain's seats in the second row featuring massage functionality, leg rests, seat heaters, ventilation, and headrest speakers – all standard. Additionally, the vehicle maintains a mere 64.5dB noise level at 120km/h, ensuring conversations and music remain enjoyable even during high-speed travel. The substantial panoramic glass roof floods the interior with natural light, creating a bright and open atmosphere that elevates the luxury travel experience.
Cutting-edge EV Technology and Dynamic Performance
Powering the ZEEKR 009 is an advanced 140 kWh battery developed by CATL, enabling an impressive range of 822 km on a single charge (according to internal testing by ZEEKR). The dual motor setup generates maximum output of 450 kW (612 horsepower) and a torque of 693 Nm. Despite weighing 2,870 kg, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, showcasing remarkable performance characteristics that compete strongly within the luxury segment.
Design and Aerodynamics by Experts
The vehicle's design is crafted by the Swedish Zeekr Global Design Center, led by former Audi designer Stefan Sielaff, resulting in a refined exterior that embodies Scandinavian aesthetics. The ZEEKR 009 not only promises comfort but is also aerodynamically optimized, achieving a commendable drag coefficient of Cd 0.27. The striking vertical fin design of the front grille and one-piece tail light bar measuring 1.47 meters highlight its premium and forward-thinking character.
