Intracom Telecom Launches WiBAS™ G5 MDUConnect for Enhanced Urban Broadband Experience

Intracom Telecom Unveils Revolutionary WiBAS™ G5 MDUConnect for Urban Broadband

In a significant advancement for the telecommunications industry, Intracom Telecom has launched its innovative WiBAS™ G5 MDUConnect, a groundbreaking system that promises to transform broadband connectivity for residents of urban Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs). This cutting-edge technology aims to address the significant challenges faced in upgrading broadband services for MDU/MTE buildings while minimizing disruption to existing structures and tenants.

Breaking Barriers in Broadband Technology

The WiBAS™ G5 MDUConnect is set to redefine the traditional approaches to providing high-speed internet services. Traditionally, enhancing broadband services in buildings has required extensive renovations, including tearing out old copper wiring and replacing it with fiber. This often involves considerable time, cost, and inconvenience for residents. However, the WiBAS™ G5 MDUConnect offers a more streamlined, cost-effective solution that utilizes existing in-building wiring, thus facilitating a seamless upgrade to fiber-like broadband capabilities without the need for extensive construction work.

High-Speed Connectivity for All

The system uses advanced mmWave Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology, combined with G.hn distribution over existing coaxial cables and twisted pair telephone wiring. This innovative approach allows network operators and Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) to deliver speeds comparable to fiber optics—delivering up to 5.6 Gbps per sector to as many as 120 terminals from a single WiBAS™ G5 base station. Additionally, the GigaConnect+ Terminal Stations, strategically placed on building rooftops, can provide connectivity speeds of up to 2.4 Gbps, with potential upgrades to 4.8 Gbps.

The G.hn Aggregator further enhances this system’s capabilities by extending wired connections to individual apartments and offices, achieving speeds of up to 1.7 Gbps. This end-to-end architecture ensures that residents can enjoy high-speed internet access, regardless of their location within the building.

Centralized Network Management

One of the standout features of the WiBAS™ G5 MDUConnect is its integration with uni|MS™, Intracom Telecom's unified network management platform. This sophisticated system enables network operators to manage their networks centrally, facilitating effective network planning, service qualification automation, proactive maintenance, and optimization through AI technologies. The platform also supports zero-touch provisioning, SLA monitoring, and comprehensive Quality of Service (QoS) control, enhancing the overall user experience.

Rapid Deployment for Urban Dwellers

According to John Tenidis, Director for Product Line Management at Intracom Telecom, the WiBAS™ G5 MDUConnect provides a crucial advantage for service providers competing against traditional Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) offerings. “Our solution allows us to reach subscribers in condominiums or MTEs faster than our FTTH counterparts, while maximizing the efficiency of spectrum assets,” Tenidis stated during the announcement.

This capability is particularly beneficial for urban consumers who have historically been underserved in terms of fast internet access, offering them options to upgrade to gigabit speeds at a fraction of the disruption and cost involved in conventional installations.
