Faith Selchick Honored with the CARE Award

Basking Ridge, N.J., September 30, 2025 — In a prestigious announcement today, Cancer Nursing Today revealed that Faith Selchick, DNP, RN, AGNP-BC, AOCNP, OCN, has been selected as the recipient of the Third Annual CARE Award. Faith is the regional director of Cancer Services at Westchester Medical Center Health Network's Western Region in New York, a role through which she impacts countless lives and serves as a role model for oncology nurses everywhere.

The CARE Award, presented annually by Cancer Nursing Today, aims to celebrate oncology nurses and advanced practitioners who excel in providing comprehensive cancer care. As part of Formedics, Cancer Nursing Today serves as a digital hub for oncology professionals, fostering collaboration, shared learning, and improved patient outcomes. Dr. Selchick expressed her gratitude upon receiving the award, stating, "Receiving the CARE Award is not only a personal honor but also a testament to the collective spirit of compassion and dedication that defines our field."

With over 15 years of experience in clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Selchick has built a distinguished career in oncology nursing. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Duke University, a Master’s degree from Yale University’s Oncology Nurse Practitioner Program, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Connecticut. Her educational background is complemented by her functional leadership at three hospitals and an ambulatory care site, where she oversees various facets of oncology operations, including staffing, clinical workflows, and nursing practices.

Dr. Sushil Bhardwaj, a prominent member of Westchester Medical Center's Bobbi Lewis Cancer Program and Good Samaritan Hospital, nominated Dr. Selchick for this significant recognition. In his nomination, he articulated, "Faith is truly exceptional. She embodies the values of intelligence and empathy as an oncology leader. Her approach not only nurtures patient care but also enriches her peers. She is vital to our oncology program’s success and continuously leaves a lasting mark on those she serves."

Following a rigorous screening process by a blinded selection committee of nursing professionals, Dr. Selchick was named one of the four finalists for this honor. The final outcome was determined by the votes from Cancer Nursing Today readership and the wider oncology nursing community, culminating in Dr. Selchick being awarded this year’s CARE Award.

Helen Moran, chief content and product officer at Formedics, remarked on the significance of Dr. Selchick's contributions, stating, "We are honored to present Faith Selchick with the Third Annual Cancer Nursing Today CARE Award, recognizing her excellent leadership and vital contributions to the oncology nursing field. Her passionate approach to patient-centered care showcases the spirit of what the CARE Award represents."

The CARE Award promotes recognition within the healthcare community, motivating professionals to appreciate the dedication and resilience of their colleagues. Cecilia Brown, managing editor of Cancer Nursing Today, added, "The CARE Award not only honors exemplary nursing but also inspires others in the oncology field to lead with integrity and compassion. Faith’s commitment to advancing oncology nursing and mentoring future generations underscores her pivotal role in the discipline, and we are proud to recognize her achievements."

Alongside Dr. Selchick, several remarkable oncology nurses received honorable mentions for the Third Annual CARE Award, including Michelle Carpentier from UMass Memorial Medical Center, Amanda Coble from WellSpan Health, and Karen Tamulonis from Rush University Medical Center.

Established in 2023, the Cancer Nursing Today CARE Award honors oncology nurses who profoundly impact patient care. The criteria for the award include commitment to professional development, role modeling, resilience, and emotional intelligence. The award recipients not only gain recognition but also serve as a reminder of the vital contributions oncology nurses make to the healthcare landscape.
