Huawei Unveils Four Innovative All-Optical Solutions for F5.5G Networks

Huawei's Groundbreaking Solutions for F5.5G Networks

Introduction
In a significant development in the telecommunications industry, Huawei has recently unveiled four innovative all-optical solutions aimed at enhancing F5.5G networks during the Green All-Optical Network Forum at MWC 25 in Barcelona. Led by Kim Jin, the Vice President of Huawei's Optical Product Line, these solutions are designed to assist global operators in building high-performance, AI-centric optical networks that promise to deliver significant advantages in the intelligent era.

The Rise of AI and Optical Networks

The global AI sector is witnessing rapid growth, which accelerates the commercial use of 10 Gbit/s broadband connections and 1 ms latency in all-optical metropolitan networks. Huawei’s groundbreaking solutions provide global operators with robust tools necessary for implementing advanced optical networks. As AI technology evolves, there's a pressing need to upgrade access networks to 50G PON (Passive Optical Network), enabling widespread access to 10GE. Last year, Huawei introduced the intelligent OLT MA5800T X17 solution, and now, it is following up with models X15, X8, and X2 that meet varying capacity demands.

Comprehensive Solutions for Diverse Needs

Huawei’s new models stand out in the industry due to their superior forwarding capabilities and support for high-density 50G PON, allowing operators to establish networks capable of supporting developments for the upcoming decade. With a port density of 16, these models facilitate seamless transitions between inventory items. The new FAN Intelligent Engine architecture, in collaboration with NCE (Network Cloud Engine), optimizes application-level private line services, enhances Wi-Fi performance among diverse users, and offers on-demand computing power planning, thus helping operators achieve a “network as a service” model.

Metro Networks Enhanced

Huawei also launched an AI-oriented all-optical metro network architecture, achieving latency as low as one millisecond for DCA (Data Center Access) and DCI (Data Center Interconnect). The introduction of the industry’s fastest 2T single-wavelength boards marks a significant milestone; the new TFLN modulator increases the capacity of a single wavelength from 1.6 Tbit/s to 2 Tbit/s, reducing bit costs by 20%. With the Ocean Current energy-saving algorithm, it can automatically shut down idle circuits based on real-time traffic, resulting in potential power savings of up to 50%. This architecture’s proactive latency detection and mapping capabilities enable smart planning for AI services.

Backbone Network Innovations

Last year's release of the OSN 9800 K series, the first DC-oriented OTN solution in the industry, has been complemented with the new K12 model, supporting various scenarios with smaller rack requirements. The improved FEC algorithm enhances performance by 30% and extends the reach for 800G by 1000 km while reducing optical rerouting times from 10 seconds to a mere 50 milliseconds. By maintaining network availability at 99.9999%, it minimizes optimal costs. Additionally, the introduction of dual power supply with dual reception, combined with rapid deduplication algorithms, ensures efficient AI processing.

Intelligent Management Solutions

Huawei's iMaster NCE incorporates AI for intelligent management and control. Through the HBB Agent, it can proactively identify potential quality issues and automatically resolve faults within a minute, significantly reducing user complaints by 60%. In terms of all-optical transmission, the digital monitoring map can identify network and service risks, addressing issues within 15 minutes, which greatly enhances operational efficiency.

Conclusion

“AI is rapidly transforming the world, presenting unprecedented opportunities for optical networks,” shared Kim Jin. “Huawei is committed to continuous innovation, assisting operators in establishing high-quality, efficient AI-focused F5.5G all-optical networks that leverage new opportunities.”
