Celebrating Two Decades of Care: Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine in Atlanta

Celebrating 20 Years of Pediatric Care in Atlanta

Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, P.C. has reached a significant milestone, marking two decades of compassionate healthcare for children and adolescents in Atlanta. Established in September 2006 by Dr. Deneta H. Sells, the practice began humbly in a small bungalow located in Grant Park. What started as a neighborhood pediatric office has blossomed into a thriving practice with three locations: Glenwood Park, Brookhaven, and Decatur.

From the very beginning, the philosophy was clear: to provide a neighborhood pediatrician who is not only accessible but deeply involved in the community and available during the hours parents truly need. The demand for this service increased rapidly, prompting the practice to move into a larger, purpose-built office in December 2009 in Glenwood Park, followed by expansions to Brookhaven in May 2017 and Decatur in April 2022.

Over the past twenty years, Intown Pediatric has nurtured long-lasting relationships with families. Children who were once newborns walking through the doors are now entering adulthood, and many are still under the care of the same dedicated professionals who attended to them during their early visits. This continuity of care is a hallmark of the practice's commitment to fostering lasting bonds with both children and parents.

The clinical staff has also grown alongside its facilities, now encompassing a diverse team of board-certified pediatricians and nurse practitioners. Notably, some team members began their journey at Intown Pediatrics as residents or clinical students, eventually returning as practicing clinicians. This trend has helped maintain the original culture of care, even as the practice expanded.

Intown Pediatric's services cover a wide spectrum of pediatric healthcare, including prenatal consultations, routine well-child visits, immunizations, treatment of common childhood illnesses, and management of chronic conditions such as asthma and allergies. The practice is committed to holistic care, providing developmental and behavioral support, as well as mental health resources for adolescents. Flexibility is also a priority, offering evening appointments and weekend hours, alongside after-hours advice for parents.

Reflecting on the journey, Dr. Deneta H. Sells expressed gratitude: "When I opened Intown Pediatrics in that Grant Park bungalow in 2006, the idea was simple: be the neighborhood doctor families could actually reach. Twenty years later, we have three offices and a much larger team, yet that idea remains unchanged. The experience of watching a generation of children grow is invaluable. I extend my heartfelt thanks to every family who has entrusted us with their care over these two decades. We look forward to many more years of service and dedication ahead."

To celebrate this anniversary, Intown Pediatrics is planning various activities and engagements with its patient families throughout the year, while continuing to welcome new families at its three locations.
