Skyways Partners with DSV for Advanced Logistics

In a significant move for the logistics sector, Skyways—a pioneer in long-range autonomous uncrewed aircraft systems—has forged a commercial partnership with DSV, a recognized leader in supply chain management. This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards optimizing offshore logistics operations, particularly in the energy sector.

The partnership's first phase will see Skyways' autonomous aircraft deployed to support operations in the North Sea, starting at their base in Norden, Germany, later this fall. Bill Wimberley, Chief Commercial Officer of Skyways, highlighted the challenges of offshore logistics, stating, "Skyways aircraft are built for the logistics challenges that are hardest to solve, long distances, limited access, and missions where reliability matters." These aircraft will be instrumental in transporting crucial cargo to offshore installations such as wind turbines and energy platforms, effectively addressing the shortcomings of traditional maritime and helicopter logistics which can often be slow and costly.

As part of the agreement, Skyways will not only provide aircraft but also comprehensive pilot training along with technical, maintenance, and regulatory support. Meanwhile, DSV will oversee local flight staffing and liaise with aviation authorities to ensure all necessary flight authorizations are obtained.

Mathias Vinter, who heads drone services at DSV, acknowledged the operational capabilities of Skyways' systems, stating that when evaluated, Skyways had demonstrated the range, payload capacity, and operational maturity essential for effective offshore logistics operations. This partnership is expected to create a scalable drone logistics service that addresses the evolving needs of their clients.

The integration of Skyways’ autonomous aircraft into DSV’s operation provides significant advantages by connecting onshore distribution networks with offshore facilities. This relationship not only enhances speed and flexibility but also reduces costs associated with conventional logistics methods.

In expanding their collaboration, both companies have outlined a framework that allows for the inclusion of additional aircraft and the pursuit of new markets, pending regulatory approvals and delivery schedules. This strategy is expected to accelerate the growth and reach of both companies in the burgeoning field of autonomous logistics.

In a bid to showcase their advancements and solidify their market position, Skyways and DSV will present this partnership and its implications at the forthcoming WindEnergy Hamburg event taking place from September 22 to 25, 2026.
