High School Students Experience Professional Insights at Dormy Inn Mito on November 12

Nurturing Professional Perspectives: The DOMINISTA CHALLENGE Program

On November 12, 2025, the Dormy Inn Mito will host a professional experience program aimed at high school students, specifically from the Taisei Girls High School. This initiative, organized by Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd., led by President Koji Nakamura, aims to provide a hands-on introduction to hotel operations through the "DOMINISTA CHALLENGE."

What is the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE?

Since its inception in 2019, the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE has been offered nationwide at various hotels, targeting middle and high school students. The program provides an inside look at the workings of a hotel, allowing participants to engage in activities like customer service at the front desk, room cleaning, and preparing the large communal bath before it opens. This experience not only helps students understand the real essence of work and the feelings of those who labor but also fosters an appreciation for their community by engaging with visitors. In today's globalized world, where interaction with diverse cultures is commonplace, this program serves as a living lesson in multicultural coexistence. To date, more than 80 schools have participated, with seven from the northern Kanto region alone, integrating this vocational experience into their career education.

Comments from Taisei Girls High School

Representatives from Taisei Girls High School emphasized that through this vocational experience, students will grasp the significance of work and develop a deeper sense of social responsibility. By being engaged in various operations that support hotel functionality, students are expected to learn the importance of collaboration and accountability, ultimately contributing to their growth.

Comments from Dormy Inn Mito’s Manager, Hiroyuki Takahashi

Manager Takahashi highlighted that the hotel business encompasses much more than just front desk service. There are numerous unseen tasks such as kitchen operations, room cleaning, and bath preparation, which students will witness firsthand. This exposure is designed to shape their understanding of the significance of work and the importance of teamwork and responsibility.

Context and Future Outlook

In an era marked by societal and economic uncertainties, providing career education that resonates with the meaning and joy of work is more crucial than ever. As Japan faces a declining population, nurturing individuals who possess a deep commitment to their roots and engage actively in their communities is vital. Through the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE, Kyoritsu Maintenance aims to enrich students’ experiences, instilling a sense of empathy, the joy of working, and encouraging them to think about their role in shaping their community's future.
