On May 21, 2025, the prestigious title of U.S. Bartender of the Year was awarded to Nic Wallace during the thirteenth season of the United States Bartenders' Guild (USBG) Presents World Class competition, sponsored by Diageo. This celebrated event took place in Atlanta, Georgia, where a formidable lineup of the nation’s top 30 bartenders fiercely competed across a series of challenging tasks designed to test their craft, creativity, and flair.

The Competition Overview



Over the course of three intense days, competitors showcased their exceptional bartending skills in five distinct challenges. Each challenge aimed to highlight different aspects of mixology, from creativity to technical execution. Nic Wallace's remarkable journey began with a focus on intricate cocktail craftsmanship that not only elevated the bar but also celebrated the rich flavor profiles that characterize the American South.

Wallace, a seasoned professional with more than two decades of experience in bartending and hospitality, has dedicated over a decade to competing in the World Class competition. This extensive experience has solidified his status as a leading figure in the bartending community.

“I was the only competitor from Georgia, and it was my chance to bring home a win for my state,” Wallace reflected. “No matter how difficult the journey might be, with persistence, anything can be achieved.”

Highlights of the Challenges



This year’s competition comprised three initial challenges spread over two days, followed by two decisive final tests. Initial tasks included creating a signature Bulleit cocktail paired with a Southern dish, mixing two cocktails using Don Julio 70 Cristalino tequila, and completing an exhilarating eight-minute Speed Round where contestants had to prepare six DIAGEO Reserve cocktails, all of which were judged on various criteria such as balance, originality, and presentation.

The remaining top ten competitors advanced to the finals, where they continued to showcase their skills through additional challenges that demanded even greater creativity and execution under pressure.
