Experiencing the World: A Multicultural Journey for Children
On February 21, 2026, Choice Hotels Japan, a company renowned for its wide array of accommodations including Comfort Hotels and Ascend Hotel Collection™, organized a captivating event, "A Day Connected to the World: Experiencing Multicultural Travel!". This engaging exchange event, designed exclusively for elementary school students, aimed to instill the joy of travel and the importance of multicultural coexistence. Following the success of the inaugural event held last year, anticipation surrounded this second installment.
The event took place at the TKP Tamachi Conference Center in Tokyo, with 17 children from the "Choice Guest Club™," the membership program of Comfort Hotels, participating alongside their guardians. The morning program spanned from 10 AM to 12:30 PM, providing a rich opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in various cultures through interactive booths representing three different countries: the Philippines, China, and Nepal.
A Journey Across Cultures
Participants engaged passionately in activities designed by high school students with diverse heritages, creating a dynamic environment for cultural exchange. Children traveled through four unique booths, each curated to highlight the festivities and traditions from these countries. The event was more than just an adventure; it was an educational experience emphasizing respect and understanding of global cultures.
- - Booth Activities: Each booth offered traditional games and cultural insights. For instance, at the China booth, children played "打弹珠 (Dá Dànzhū)", a classic marble game focusing on dexterity and concentration, drawing excited cheers from participants every time a marble found its target.
- - The Nepal booth introduced kids to "Chungi," a traditional game involving rubber bands that foster creativity and teamwork. After creating their own Chungi balls, children enjoyed several playful challenges that ignited laughter and competition.
- - At the Philippines booth, participants learned multiple hand games requiring only their hands and voices. They practiced games such as "Bato bato pick," a playful version of rock-paper-scissors, and engaged in joyful and rhythmic activities like "Nanay, tatay," which showcased the fun of community and teamwork.
In addition to these engaging activities, the corner known as
Pabitin allowed children to test their jumping skills as they aimed to grab toys and candies swinging above them—a true delight that filled the atmosphere with laughter and cheers.
Encouraging Future Generations
To enrich this event further, the
Choice Guest Club™ serves as a vital platform focused on energizing communities through travel. With approximately 1.21 million members, the program not only offers discounts but also contributes 0.5% of every booking to various social initiatives addressing issues ranging from education to environmental conservation.
This dedication to social responsibility is demonstrated through partnerships with organizations like the certified NPO Katari-ba, which was involved in facilitating the event and also supports high school students of foreign descent through career development programs. Programs like these provide the youth with crucial support and the tools they need to envision bright futures.
The success of this year's event can be partially attributed to the overwhelming interest, as 45 members applied to participate—a considerable turnout that signifies the desire for cultural interaction among young travelers.
Looking Ahead
Choice Hotels Japan aims to continue leveraging its membership program to enhance its community impact while fostering global perspectives in future generations. By continuously providing opportunities that blend travel, learning, and engagement, they aspire to create a sustainable cycle where every trip taken fosters positive societal change.
The exciting event on February 21 was a resounding success, leaving children more informed and motivated about the beauty of diverse cultures. Through such initiatives, they hope to inspire youth to dream of traveling the world, nurturing a desire to explore and embrace cultural differences in their journeys ahead.
