The Latest Stage Adaptation of Sazae-san
Fuji TV is bringing back the beloved Sazae-san family, offering a unique opportunity to see how they have evolved over the last ten years in their new stage adaptation. Starting July 19th, fans can enjoy this nostalgic journey through FOD's Pay-Per-View (PPV) service.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, PPV allows viewers to purchase rights to watch specific programs. This means you can experience the charm of the Isono family from the comfort of your own home.
In this adaptation, viewers will get a glimpse into the lives of Sazae (played by Norika Fujiwara) and the entire Isono family. But what has changed? Has Sazae kept her iconic hairstyle, and how is she managing the daily challenges that life continues to throw her way? Masuo (Shingo Katsurayama) may have advanced in his career but often returns home exhausted and late. Meanwhile, Hōhei (Ken Matsudaira) has retired and seems to be struggling with boredom, and Fune (Keiko Takahashi) shares her family's concerns with Tama (Toshimi Sakai) each day. The children are no longer little; Katsuya (Naoya Kusakawa / Yusuke Sato) is now a university student, while Wakame (Honoka Hirao) is attending a vocational school, and Tarō (Shōma Fuji代 / Hikaru Matsuzaki) is a middle schooler.
As the children face their adult challenges, they must confront the idea of selling the Isono family home. Expect a mix of laughter and tears as we delve into the dynamic lives of the Isono family ten years later. Don't miss out on this heartwarming story available on FOD!
Special Viewing Event
To celebrate the PPV launch, there will be a special live viewing event featuring some of the cast members. Scheduled for July 19th at 2:50 PM, this simultaneous viewing will take place on the Meijiza YouTube channel. Notable participants include Sazae’s Norika Fujiwara, Katsuya’s Yusuke Sato, and Saburo’s Morihiro Yamaguchi. They will revisit the performances and share exclusive behind-the-scenes stories and thoughts on their characters.
This live broadcast is a one-time-only event without an archive, making it a unique experience you won't want to miss!
On top of all this, fans can look forward to a special inclusion of the curtain call for both Katsuya roles in the final performance, enriching the overall experience with two distinct performances showcasing the strengths of W-cast.
Tickets are available for both individual shows priced at 4,400 yen (approx. $40 USD) and a special set including both performances for 7,500 yen (approx. $68 USD). You can purchase your tickets from July 8th until August 3rd.
