Explore the Engaging Body Wars Exhibition in Tokyo
In a remarkable feat, the interactive event titled
'Body Wars: Immune Cells vs. Virus Alliance', organized by Kirin Holdings, has attracted over
10,000 visitors within its first
ten days. This exhibition, ongoing from
November 26, 2025, to January 25, 2026, at the
Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) in Tokyo, aims to teach families about the mechanisms of immunity through hands-on activities.
A Timely Response to Growing Health Concerns
The event's impressive attendance is in part connected to the
early onset of influenza this year, with
case numbers reported to be over
ten times what they were during the same period last year. With the flu season bringing increased concerns about infectious diseases, this engaging educational format allows children and their parents to learn about immunity and the role of viruses in a fun and immersive way.
Surveys conducted by Kirin Holdings reveal that around
80% of parents with young children experienced health issues following their children’s recovery from illnesses. This underscores the necessity of educating families about immunity. The
Body Wars exhibition was conceived to address these challenges, providing an exciting platform for families to acquire essential knowledge that can help them stay healthy during flu season and beyond.
Exciting Content and Activities
Immersive Experience in the World of Immunity
Participants in the exhibition are split into two teams:
Immune Cells and
Virus Alliance. They can explore detailed models and panels that visually explain how immunity and viruses function. The exhibition includes:
- - Immune Cells Area: Visitors learn about the characteristics and functionalities of different immune cells through explanatory panels. Additionally, they are educated on the necessary lifestyle habits and nutrients needed to maintain a strong immune system.
- - Virus Alliance Area: Here, attendees discover the composition and characteristics of viruses, the susceptibility of different populations to infections, and the significance of prevention.
Interactive Rhythm Games
Participants can take part in rhythm games to compete as either Immune Cells or Virus Alliance members. The
Immune Cells team must press buttons in time when health habits and necessary nutrients are displayed on screen, while the
Virus Alliance team scores by responding to descriptions of susceptible individuals. This interactive format offers a dynamic learning opportunity about the battle between immunity and viruses.
Engaging Toss Game
Visitors can also enjoy a ball-tossing game where they must knock down viruses depicted on a screen. The success of the immunological command center is reliant on hitting the right spots with the balls. This game provides insights into the support mechanisms required to maintain immunity in an enjoyable way.
Take-Home Learning
Moreover, the exhibition will distribute a limited number of board games titled
'CELL ‘SHOGI’ BATTLE', designed by three
5th-grade students from Aichi Prefecture. This game, which combines chess elements with battles between immune cells and viruses, allows children to continue learning about immunity at home after the exhibition.
