Clean Energy Connect Achieves 2,500 Non-FIT Solar Plants
Clean Energy Connect, led by CEO Teppei Uchida, has exciting news: it has reached a significant milestone with the establishment of 2,500 Non-FIT solar power plants across Japan. These projects showcase the company's commitment to supporting corporate customers such as those pursuing decarbonization initiatives and participating in the RE100 program by delivering green energy and environmental value.
The company specializes in developing and operating small-scale solar power plants that do not rely on the feed-in tariff (FIT) system. By leveraging off-site corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) services, Clean Energy Connect provides additional renewable energy to its clients, allowing them to quickly meet their decarbonization and RE100 goals.
The widespread deployment of these solar power plants spans 25 prefectures and 335 municipalities across the country. This geographical distribution helps mitigate fluctuations in power generation due to weather conditions while also reducing risks associated with natural disasters. The total annual power generation capacity from these facilities is projected to reach 236 million kWh, which will contribute to a reduction of approximately 107,000 tons of CO2 per year.
To streamline operations, Clean Energy Connect has developed and refined the proprietary "CEC-Cloud®" system. This innovative solution allows the company to manage every aspect of the solar plants, from development and maintenance to monitoring power generation and CO2 reduction. By efficiently managing these projects, the company is able to ensure reliable power generation and help clients plan for effective CO2 cuts.
The "CEC-Cloud®" system incorporates custom remote monitoring devices installed at each solar power site, providing real-time data on energy generation and performance. Clients participating in the off-site corporate PPA services can access valuable information about their CO2 reductions and generation metrics through visualization tools such as GX Monitor® and GX Manager®.
In addition to these efforts, 2,175 of the solar plants have been fitted with the unique "Prepared Outlet®" feature, providing a safety net for local communities by supplying solar-generated electricity during outages caused by disasters. Clean Energy Connect remains committed to boosting resilience in the regions where their solar plants are located.
The company is dedicated to offering a comprehensive green power solution, facilitating everything from devising green energy introduction plans to implementation support, and evaluating outcomes to achieve client objectives efficiently and flexibly.
Clean Energy Connect proudly assists an array of major corporations, including Amazon, Dai-ichi Life Insurance, NTT Group, and many others in their journey towards decarbonization and fulfilling RE100 commitments. Looking ahead, the company aims to integrate energy storage systems, wind power options, and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) with solar power generation to enable continuous utilization of renewable energy—moving towards a 24/7 carbon-free energy model.
To expand further, Clean Energy Connect is actively seeking partner companies to collaborate on the development of additional Non-FIT solar power plants nationwide. Companies interested in joining this initiative are encouraged to reach out via
