IMPACT STARTUP SUMMIT 2025: Shaping a Sustainable Future

On October 14, 2025, the Impact Startup Association (ISA) will host the IMPACT STARTUP SUMMIT 2025 at the Tokyo Convention Hall in Kyobashi. This in-person event is designed to tackle the pressing social issues we face today, showcasing effective solutions through the lens of innovative startups. The event will welcome a diverse group of leaders from various sectors including government, academia, and industry, all united under the theme of “Impact Showcase - A Fair for Solving Social Issues.”

Event Highlights

The summit aims to provide insights into social problems, gathering thought leaders to engage in discussions regarding the current challenges and future perspectives necessary for impactful startups. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from pioneers in various fields during a series of sessions known as the Leaders’ Session. Selected leaders will address different themes, sharing their experiences and knowledge in overcoming industry-specific barriers.

The Essence of IMPACT STARTUP SUMMIT 2025

The landscape of impact investment and management has rapidly evolved, becoming a fundamental aspect of social reform rather than a temporary trend. The 2023 “Basic Policy” highlights support for impact startups, and the momentum is growing, predicting an expansion of Japan’s impact investment market from around 11 trillion yen in 2022 to over 17 trillion yen by 2024. Looking ahead to 2025, we anticipate a more significant integration of impactful principles within financial markets and policies.

With rapid developments in collaboration between public and private sectors, including participation in the Impact Consortium led by the Financial Services Agency, there is a growing trend of co-creation between large corporations and startups aimed at solving social challenges.

Since its inception in 2022, ISA has been dedicated to the dual goals of addressing social issues and fostering sustainable growth. Membership has expanded significantly, now incorporating 249 organizations, alongside 15 large national and international corporate supporters contributing to building a collaborative ecosystem.

As we embark on the second iteration of the IMPACT STARTUP SUMMIT, the 2025 theme embodies our commitment to displaying innovative solutions across various sectors such as environment, healthcare, education, local revitalization, administration, deep tech, and financial inclusion. Events will include sessions, pitch contests, exhibitions, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration and learning among diverse participants.

The Impact Startup Association represents organizations aiming to achieve a balance between addressing social issues and promoting sustainable growth. Established on October 14, 2022, ISA aims to build an ecosystem that fosters positive impacts across society. Through collaboration with financial, governmental, and academic sectors, ISA wishes to create an environment where impactful startups can thrive.
