Green Growth Partners with Kyushu Kiden Group for Renewable Energy and Battery Storage Solutions

Green Growth and Kyushu Kiden Group: A Strategic Partnership

In a significant move towards sustainable energy solutions, Green Growth Co., Ltd., based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced its collaboration with the Kyushu Kiden Group, with its core entity being Kyushu Kiden Co., Ltd., headquartered in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. The partnership aims to bolster the renewable energy sector and battery storage initiatives, focusing on enhancing the functionality and longevity of solar power generation systems, thereby invigorating the local economy and promoting energy self-sufficiency in the region.

The Importance of the Partnership

As the transition from Feed-in Tariff (FIT) to Feed-in Premium (FIP) progresses, the renewable energy industry is encountering various challenges, including increased output control, aging equipment, insufficient supply-demand adjustment capacity, and fluctuating revenues.

With over 90 years of experience as a Hitachi distributor, the Kyushu Kiden Group has been a stalwart in the field of electricity, providing comprehensive support from design and construction to maintenance under the tenets of "speed and responsiveness" to local infrastructure needs.

On the other hand, Green Growth, a dynamic startup, has effectively utilized its agility to maximize the value of renewable energy through battery and renewable energy development, value enhancement, operation, and aggregation. Together, these companies aspire to evolve regional renewable energy infrastructure to a next-generation standard.

Details of the Business Collaboration

The partnership focuses on three primary areas of collaboration:

1. FIP Conversion and Battery Addition at Existing Power Plants

The collaboration kicks off with the FIP conversion and battery installation at the Miyoshi Food Industry solar power plant located in Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, under K2 Energy. Green Growth is responsible for business development and aggregation, while Kyushu Kiden handles the design, procurement, and construction aspects. Operations are targeted to commence by fiscal year 2026.

2. Enhancing Value of Other Companies' Solar Power Plants

By leveraging Kyushu Kiden's construction expertise and Green Growth's knowledge in business development and aggregation, the partnership aims to support enhancements such as FIP conversion and battery installation for solar power plants owned by other firms.

3. Development of FIP Solar Power Models Utilizing Rooftops

The collaboration will harness the industrial, warehouse, and commercial facilities network of K2 Energy and Kyushu Kiden to promote the development of rooftop-based FIP solar power plants. This initiative seeks to repurpose local underutilized assets into renewable energy sources, creating a decentralized infrastructure of local energy production and consumption.

Comments from K2 Holdings President

Toru Nishiga, President of K2 Holdings, commented on the partnership's significance, stating, "As renewable energy expands, increased output control and equipment aging present new challenges in power generation. For our group, stabilizing local energy facilities is a vital theme. Green Growth's proposal for enhancing renewable asset value through FIP conversion and battery installation resonated with our vision, and we appreciate their execution capability. Since our establishment, we have prioritized responsiveness to local clients, and we are eager to collaborate with the inspired and robust leadership of Green Growth to elevate the value of our power plants and ensure the sustainability of the local economy."

Future Prospects

Green Growth aims to expand the transition to FIP and battery installations through partnerships with local enterprises, enhancing supply-demand adjustments in the regional electricity market while increasing the added value of renewable energy sources. The renewable energy sector faces structural challenges, including limited installation locations, long-term use of renewable energy sources, supply stabilization, revenue leakage, and regional outflows of energy. The approach of integrating the phases of creation, utilization, and application aims to resolve these challenges and maximize the value of regional renewable energy dynamics. The goal is not just to support individual projects but to rise as a comprehensive planner linking regional economies and energy solutions.
