Watchtower Capital's Strategic Acquisitions to Boost Southeast Fence Industry
Watchtower Capital Expands Its Footprint in the Fence Industry
In a move that signals growth in the residential and commercial fencing sector, Watchtower Capital has announced it has acquired Fence Builders, Inc. and Green Hill Fence Company. This strategic acquisition creates a robust platform geared toward serving clients across the Southeastern United States. The partnership aims to blend the strengths of two industry leaders who bring complementary expertise and geographical reach to the table.
The Acquisitions
Watchtower Capital, a private equity firm known for investing in family-owned businesses, has brought together these long-established companies. Fence Builders, founded in 1955 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is renowned for its high-quality fence and access control solutions. Under the leadership of second-generation owner Steve Shelton, the company has built a solid reputation over decades, extending its services across several key states, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia.
Meanwhile, Green Hill Fence Company, led by Manning Garrett, has carved out a niche in South Carolina's Upstate region, making notable strides in custom gate installations aimed at premium residential and commercial clients. The fusion of these companies represents not only a geographical alignment but also a significant consolidation of knowledge and resources within the industry.
Operational Continuity and Leadership
Both Fence Builders and Green Hill will continue to operate under their respective management teams, with a focus on leveraging shared resources to drive growth. Shelton and Garrett are set to maintain leadership roles and ownership stakes, ensuring that the companies retain their unique identities while benefiting from enhanced operational capabilities. Nick Coder has been appointed as the President of the newly formed company, bringing with him over two decades of experience in scaling businesses, most recently as a co-founder of StonePoint Materials.
