Supporting Your Coffee Roasting Journey: The Share Roaster Initiative by INDIGO COFFEE WORKS

Empower Your Coffee Roasting Dreams

In recent years, the rise of diverse work styles has led to an increasing number of individuals venturing into side hustles. Among these endeavors, coffee roasting has captured the interest of hobbyists eager to transform their passion into a viable business. Despite the allure, many face challenges entering the coffee industry, primarily due to the high cost of professional roasting machines and the hurdles associated with noise and smoke, particularly for those living in apartments.

Introducing the Share Roaster

To address these challenges, INDIGO COFFEE WORKS has introduced the "Share Roaster" at their coffee shop, "御豆屋" (Omamoya). This initiative is designed to empower those looking to turn their coffee roasting interests into a side business. By utilizing the Share Roaster, aspiring entrepreneurs can bypass the significant initial costs of purchasing a roasting machine while also eliminating concerns about smoke and odors disturbing their neighbors. This opens the door for anyone to produce and sell high-quality coffee beans with ease.

Key Features of the Share Roaster

1. State-of-the-Art Roasting Technology
The Share Roaster features the latest high-speed automatic roasting machine, the "Tornado Ace." This innovative machine uses a unique structure to evenly distribute heat to each coffee bean, creating an exceptional roasting environment. With a user-friendly touchscreen interface, users can roast as little as 100 grams of coffee beans. The machine offers seven roasting levels, accommodating everything from light to dark roasts. In just about eight minutes per batch (up to 400g), users can achieve delightful results for a fee of only 660 yen, tax included.

2. Skills Development Workshops
To enhance the skills of roasters and baristas, INDIGO COFFEE WORKS regularly hosts workshops focused on roasting and hand-drip techniques. Not only do participants improve their personal skills, but they also elevate the quality of the coffee they serve to customers. For those just starting, the "Non-Attendance Roasting School" series on YouTube serves as an excellent introduction to these techniques.

3. Business Guidance for Side Hustlers
For those aspiring to turn their coffee passion into a full-time business, the "Coffee Shop Opening Department" provides seminars on starting a coffee business. Covering everything from conceptual design to customer attraction strategies, these sessions equip attendees with practical knowledge essential for success. Both online and in-person seminars are offered monthly, making them accessible to a wide audience.

4. Retail Opportunities
Roasted beans can be sold directly in-store using the "shelf rental space" available at Omamoya. This facilitates the opportunity for entrepreneurs to bring their coffee brands directly to customers, offering not just online sales but also invaluable real-world retail experience.
