Mazda Documentary Triumphs at IAFF 2026
In an inspiring celebration of automotive history and human connection, Mazda's documentary titled
"RX-7: 25 Years Together, The Final Three Days" has made waves at the
International Auto Film Festa (IAFF) 2026. Directed by Rinichi Ogawa from LUCK Corporation, this remarkable film has earned both the
Grand Prize and the
TEAM UKYO Award, marking a historic moment as the first dual-award winner in the festival's history.
The IAFF 2026, which received 519 submissions from 73 countries, aims to highlight the cultural significance of automobiles through short films. The competition was fierce, but this documentary stood out for its touching portrayal of the sentimental value and memories associated with a car.
The narrative focuses on Naoko Nishimoto, an 80-year-old resident of Nagasaki Prefecture, who has decided to part ways with her cherished
Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) after 25 years of ownership. This poignant documentary captures the emotions surrounding her final three days with the car she has so dearly valued, depicting how such vehicles become integral parts of our lives and evoke cherished memories.
