Celebrating Excellence in Healthcare at the NUHS Tribute Awards Ceremony 2025

On February 28, 2025, the National University Health System (NUHS) held the esteemed Tribute Awards Ceremony in Singapore, honoring 77 exceptional healthcare practitioners and four dynamic teams. This significant event was graced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr. Gan Kim Yong, as the esteemed Guest of Honour.

A Vision for the Future of Healthcare

NUHS continues to be a pioneer in redefining healthcare delivery, expanding care models beyond traditional hospital settings. This year’s awards focused on acknowledging the extraordinary contributions of individuals in patient care, research, and education who are instrumental in advancing NUHS’s vision of a progressive health system.

A New Milestone: Emeritus Fellow Title

For the first time, NUHS introduced the prestigious Emeritus Fellow title to celebrate the lifelong contributions of distinguished healthcare professionals. • - Mrs. Lee Siu Yin, Senior Nurse Mentor at Alexandra Hospital, credited with substantial advancements in nursing practice and workforce education.
  • - Dr. Tyrone Goh, an expert in diagnostics and Chief Executive Officer of the NUH Referral Laboratory, recognized for his transformative work in clinical support services.

Diverse Awards Celebrating Excellence

In total, 62 honorees received the NUHS Pinnacle Awards across various categories, including Master Clinician, Outstanding Mentor, Research Excellence, Young Achiever, and Team Awards. The event is not only a moment of celebration but a testament to the unwavering commitment and dedication of the NUHS healthcare family, which comprises over 17,000 members.

Innovations Driving Change

Since its inception in 2020, the NUHS@Home programme has significantly improved the continuity of patient care, enabling over 2,900 patients to receive hospital-quality care in the comfort of their homes. This innovative model saved more than 17,000 hospital bed days in 2024 and plans to expand its virtual bed capacity significantly. The programme is vital for patients like Mr. Sulaiman, who transitioned from in-hospital treatment to at-home recovery, benefiting from regular virtual consultations and vital monitoring.

The NCIS On-The-Go programme also showcased immense growth, evolving from basic blood tests to offering a broad range of treatments in community clinic settings. Its capacity to effectively serve cancer patients while maintaining high standards of care exemplifies the potential of community-based healthcare models.

Embracing Digital Transformation

Facing challenges such as an aging population and increased demand for services, NUHS is embracing digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline operations and enhance patient care. Noteworthy advancements include the Alexandra Virtual Hospital, a groundbreaking initiative integrating innovative technologies to provide comprehensive healthcare solutions both inside and outside hospital settings. This strategic focus on digital health not only supports better patient outcomes but also addresses workforce efficiency by optimizing resource allocation.

Prof. Yeoh Khay Guan, Chief Executive of NUHS, emphasized the importance of recognizing those who contribute to world-class healthcare. He stated, “The outstanding work and contributions by our people enable NUHS to deliver world-class care for our patients today.” The passion of the healthcare professionals is vital for ensuring sustainable and effective healthcare solutions as the landscape continues to evolve.

Looking Ahead

The NUHS Tribute Awards Ceremony 2025 not only serves to honor exceptional contributions but also fosters a culture of excellence and inspires innovation within the healthcare sector. The spirit embodied by the awardees emphasizes a collective mission to enhance the quality of healthcare, ultimately shaping a brighter future for medical care delivery.

As the NUHS continues to transform the healthcare landscape, its commitment to community engagement, innovation, and collaboration remains steadfast, ensuring that patient-centric care remains the top priority.
