Aprio Strengthens Its Position with Acquisition of RSM US LLP's Professional Services Practice



In a strategic move to bolster its market presence, Aprio has entered into an agreement to acquire the Professional Services+ (PS+) practice from RSM US LLP. This acquisition is pivotal as Aprio aims to broaden its expertise and service offerings across the U.S. and Canada. The transaction is anticipated to conclude on April 30, 2025, subject to customary conditions.

The PS+ practice is renowned for providing specialized resources, strategic insights, and integrated solutions tailored for professional services firms. It caters to nearly 80 firms in North America, offering services that encompass strategy and leadership, talent development, business processes, and operations management, alongside access to group buying solutions.

Richard Kopelman, CEO of Aprio, expressed his enthusiasm about welcoming the PS+ practice to the Aprio family. He acknowledged RSM’s substantial contribution over the past four decades, stating, "It is an honor to welcome the PS+ practice, clients, and team to Aprio. With the inclusion of the PS+ practice, Aprio is poised to create a vibrant community of complementary firms, which can foster unique collaborative and growth opportunities as the company invests in its future. Dean Sengstock, the current leader of the PS+ practice, echoed this sentiment, indicating a seamless transition while maintaining their client-centric approach.

Despite the new affiliation with Aprio, Sengstock reassured clients that the services provided and the commitment to exceptional client service will remain unchanged. He emphasized, "We have a unique opportunity to carry forward our vision and customized approach for serving clients the way they want to be served."

The acquisition is designed to enhance the capabilities of the PS+ team, ensuring continued support for clients while allowing RSM to concentrate on its core services in assurance, tax, and consulting for middle-market businesses. Brian Becker, managing partner and CEO of RSM US LLP, expressed gratitude for the PS+ team's contributions to RSM, stressing the importance of this move for both firms.

The transition will see the PS+ practice operating under the Aprio banner starting May 1, 2025. Dean Sengstock will continue as the leader of the practice and will take on the role of partner at Aprio, accompanied by four other partners and over 30 team members from the PS+ practice.

In the weeks leading up to the transition, both Aprio and RSM are collaborating to ensure a smooth shift, prioritizing the best interests of their clients throughout this period.
