Columbia Bank Expands Its Footprint in Utah with New Office and Retail Branch in Draper
Columbia Bank, renowned for its personalized banking services, continues to broaden its market presence in Utah with the recent inauguration of a new commercial office and retail branch in Draper. Situated just 20 miles from Salt Lake City, this state-of-the-art branch is the first of three new locations planned for the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area in 2026.
The opening of the Draper branch marks a significant milestone for Columbia Bank, a subsidiary of Columbia Banking System, Inc. (Nasdaq: COLB), as it expands its Utah operations that began in 2022 under the leadership of Utah Market Director Jeff Thomas. Along with the commercial banking team, Columbia has welcomed a Salt Lake City-based commercial real estate group led by Steve Strong and David Griffin to further enhance its offerings in the region.
Clint Stein, CEO of Columbia Bank, emphasized that the Salt Lake City area is a crucial hub connecting their teams across the Mountain West, allowing for deeper engagements with local businesses. With multiple locations set to open soon, the bank aims to strengthen its investment in the market and provide essential resources for the success of Utah's business community.
The Draper branch will offer a full range of commercial and retail banking services, including consumer banking, commercial and industrial (CI) lending, healthcare banking, treasury management, and wealth management services. This extensive service array aims to support a wide variety of local businesses and foster community growth.
As part of the expansion plan, two additional branches will follow in Pleasant Grove and the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City. Together, these branches will enhance accessibility to Columbia's services, thereby benefiting the local economy and ensuring that businesses receive the attention and resources they need.
Located at 13947 Minuteman Drive, Suite 175, the new Draper location integrates both commercial and retail banking functions into a spacious 14,000 square foot facility. The branch, nestled within Utah's Silicon Slopes tech corridor—a prominent business and innovation hotspot—will operate from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, under the management of Matt Quinney, previously head of Columbia's South Jordan branch, which has now been transitioned to this new facility.
During the grand opening, held on July 27, community members had the opportunity to engage with bank representatives and learn about the services offered at the new location. Dave Hansen, Head of Retail Banking at Columbia, praised the local team's dedication, noting their expertise and commitment to serving Utah families, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. The new branch is designed to meet the growing needs of the community while maintaining the bank's reputation for personal relationships and responsive service.
Columbia Bank has established itself as a leading regional bank with a dedication to personalized service across multiple states, including Arizona, California, and Washington. By merging the capabilities of a national bank with a community-focused approach, Columbia aims to empower both consumers and businesses through its comprehensive suite of financial services.
