Introduction
In an innovative collaboration between Surala Net and the Asaka City Education Board, a groundbreaking study has demonstrated the potential of AI-driven learning tools to transform students' educational experiences. Expanding beyond traditional teaching methods, the research indicates that Learners have successfully turned their struggles into self-assurance through tailored, adaptive learning approaches.
Study Overview
From May 2025 to March 2026, the study titled "Turning Struggles into Confidence: Realizing Growth Through Learning" focused on students at Asaka Fourth Junior High School. Approximately 120 first-year students utilized the AI-driven "Surala Drill" during English lessons. By employing frequent mini-tests every two to three lessons, instructors were able to immediately visualize students’ understanding of the material. Subsequently, personalized review tasks were automatically assigned to each student based on the results, enabling them to address their weaknesses and enhance their learning process.
Impressive Results
The outcomes of this study were staggering. An overwhelming 76.7% of students reported feeling that they could succeed with the right effort. Additionally, 70.9% felt that their assigned tasks accurately reflected their individual learning needs, and 74.8% recognized that they could identify their struggles independently. These statistics not only suggest a shift in students’ attitudes toward learning, but also denote a significant increase in non-cognitive skills such as self-awareness and confidence.
Academic Improvement
In terms of academic performance, there was a notable upwards shift in average scores between the first and third semester examinations. The mean and median scores both increased, particularly among students who had previously struggled. The gap in academic performance among students appears to have narrowed significantly, indicating that the AI-drill’s personalized review tasks play a crucial role in enhancing overall understanding.
Learning Cycle: Individualized Learning to Confidence
A key feature of this study is its focus on the educational process. The small quizzes enabled instant feedback on students' struggles, leading to targeted review tasks tailored for individual comprehension levels. This learning progression allows students to move from confusion to clarity, gradually building knowledge through structured learning.
Surala Net describes this flow as a learning cycle that transitions from individualized learning to self-understanding, overcoming weaknesses, and ultimately fostering confidence and self-efficacy. Throughout the study, students experienced this cycle and gained a newfound sense of capability.
Daily Learning Practices
Traditionally, reflective learning sessions were limited to scheduled tests; however, this study has facilitated a shift towards routine engagement in identifying and overcoming personal challenges. This vigilant approach promotes active learning, encouraging students to take charge of their education.
Elementary School Insights
At Asaka Third Elementary School, a similar initiative targeted around 130 sixth-graders and centered on home-based learning. Weekly assignments laid the groundwork for a cycle of learning followed by in-school quizzes. Positive correlations were noted between diagnostic tests, learning logs, and changes in non-cognitive skills, reinforcing the notion that the effectiveness of the Surala Drill transcends varying learning environments.
Models of Learning
Overall, this study exemplifies the potential of using AI drills as a means to convert struggles into confidence. By acknowledging their understanding progress and overcoming challenges, students can cultivate a greater desire to learn and boost their self-confidence.
Surala Net aims to build on the success of this initiative and develop more effective educational models that harness the power of technology in supporting students' unique learning paths.
Conclusion
The insights gained from this research will guide future endeavors to implement practical learning models throughout educational institutions nationally. The introduction of AI and adaptive learning tools like Surala Drill not only addresses current educational challenges but also equips students with the skills necessary to thrive in their learning journeys. By actively engaging with their education, students will not only overcome hurdles but also establish a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
