Clé de Peau Beauté Expands Partnership with UNICEF to Empower Millions of Girls

Clé de Peau Beauté Renews Partnership with UNICEF

Clé de Peau Beauté has recently announced the renewal of its global partnership with UNICEF, aimed at reaching an additional 7.3 million girls. This partnership, which unfolds over the next three years, reflects the beauty brand's commitment to fostering empowerment and education for young girls around the world.

Since 2019, Clé de Peau Beauté has pledged a total of $17.4 million to support UNICEF's Global Gender Equality Program. This commitment is recognized as the largest contribution from the private sector toward this initiative, which strives to create positive change for adolescent girls. To date, the collaboration has supported approximately 12.9 million girls worldwide, far exceeding initial expectations.

Expanding Focus from STEM to STEAM

With the renewal of this partnership, Clé de Peau Beauté is broadening its focus to include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). This shift emphasizes the importance of integrating art and creativity alongside traditional STEM subjects, equipping girls with a well-rounded set of skills. For instance, in Indonesia, girls participating in project-based learning initiatives are becoming adept at merging scientific knowledge with artistic expression, cultivating innovative solutions aimed at enhancing climate resilience.

Naomi Kawanishi, the Global Brand President of Clé de Peau Beauté, expressed her enthusiasm about renewing the commitment during a recent event. She stated, "Witnessing how this partnership has transformed the lives of girls—instilling confidence, igniting creativity, and opening new possibilities for their futures—made our decision to renew our commitment immensely meaningful. The focus on STEAM empowers girls not only with technical knowledge but also with the creative confidence to become true innovators. This is how we help unleash their full potential."

Recognizing Systemic Challenges

The renewal comes at a crucial time, as girls worldwide continue to face significant barriers in accessing education and skill development. Currently, 122 million girls remain out of school, and nearly 40% of adolescent girls do not complete their secondary education. There is also a stark underrepresentation of girls in STEM fields, with only 35% of STEM graduates being female and a mere 3% in ICT. Additionally, nearly 50 million girls lack basic literacy skills. In low-income countries, around 90% of girls are offline, limiting their access to learning opportunities.

These challenges are often exacerbated by intersecting barriers, including harmful gender norms, child marriage, and unpaid caregiving responsibilities. Thus, there is an urgent need for sustained investments and gender-responsive approaches that enable girls to acquire the skills and opportunities necessary for building their futures.

Through this renewed partnership, Clé de Peau Beauté and UNICEF are committed to amplifying opportunities for girls globally and supporting the next generation in realizing their full potential.

About the Partnership

Since its inception in 2019, the Clé de Peau Beauté-UNICEF partnership has focused on supporting girls' education, skill development, and empowerment through the Skills4Girls initiative. This collaboration aims to increase access to future-ready skills, including digital literacy, STEAM learning, and life skills programs, while addressing the social and structural barriers that hinder opportunities for girls.
