NSBT Japan Innovative Tour 2025

The Japan Security Business Innovation Association (SBIJ), located in Toshima, Tokyo, is set to host the second edition of the NSBT Japan Innovative Tour 2025 on November 20th and 21st. This event will offer participants direct engagement with the latest needs of Japan's Self-Defense Forces, facilitating a rich environment for generating new business opportunities.

Purpose of the Event

As the global security landscape evolves rapidly, the importance of public-private partnerships in defense acquisition and technology development has never been higher. SBIJ aims to address these societal challenges by fostering a platform where businesses, academia, and government entities can interact directly with the Self-Defense Forces. The goal is to help companies gain firsthand insight into the operational needs of the Self-Defense Forces, thereby encouraging their entry into the security business sector.

Overview of the Previous Event

The inaugural tour in January 2025 saw participation from 45 companies and organizations, including private enterprises, associations, government agencies, and academic institutions, attracting around 60 attendees. Through site visits and matchmaking sessions, meaningful connections were formed, resulting in concrete business collaborations.

What to Expect This Year

Day 1: Self-Defense Needs Forum & Matchmaking Reception

Participants will learn about the Self-Defense Forces’ latest operational requirements and procurement practices. Networking opportunities between public and private participants will expand potential business avenues.

Day 2: Self-Defense Forces Site Visit

On the second day, attendees will visit the Air Self-Defense Force Tsuiki Base and the Ground Self-Defense Force Kokura Garrison. Participants will have the chance to evaluate equipment and facilities, exploring the prospects for their products and services in the defense sector. This rare opportunity allows for the identification of real challenges and business opportunities through an up-close view of operations.
