Flexential Welcomes Marilyn Tyfting as Chief People Officer
Flexential, a prominent provider of secure and flexible data center solutions, has recently announced the appointment of Marilyn Tyfting as their new Chief People Officer. With an extensive background in human resources and organizational culture, Tyfting is set to spearhead the company's global HR strategy, focusing on enhancing talent acquisition, leadership development, employee engagement, and fostering a strong organizational culture.
Tyfting joins Flexential after a successful tenure at TELUS Digital, where she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Officer for over a decade. During her time at TELUS, she played a key role in managing HR strategies for a rapidly growing global workforce that soared from approximately 5,000 to over 80,000 employees. This remarkable growth was accompanied by significant business transformations, including several mergers and acquisitions and an initial public offering (IPO). Her significant contributions were recognized twice when she was named among Canada's Most Powerful Women by the Women's Executive Network.
Before her notable career at TELUS, Tyfting cultivated her skills in various progressive HR leadership roles at Rogers Communications, culminating in her position as Vice President of Human Resources. Her wealth of experience in building high-performance cultures at leading global technology companies positions her as an instrumental asset for Flexential.
Ryan Mallory, Flexential's CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for Tyfting's appointment, stating, "Marilyn has spent her career building environments where people can do their best work. She has a track record of sustained success at complex, global organizations where culture and execution go hand in hand. As we continue to grow, we need someone who understands that great companies are built by great people. Marilyn is that person."
Flexential has been on a growth trajectory, operating over 40 data centers across 18 markets, fueled by the increasing demand for AI infrastructure, high-density colocation, and hybrid IT solutions. The company has successfully raised approximately $1 billion in capital from notable investors such as GI Partners, GI Data Infrastructure, Hamilton Lane, and Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners to support its ongoing expansion.
The company's commitment to a people-centered culture remains a top priority, especially as it scales operations to effectively meet the accelerating demand for data center infrastructure. In her new role, Tyfting emphasized the importance of a strong workforce, stating, "Great infrastructure starts with great people, and Flexential has built something special. It's a company where technical expertise meets a genuine commitment to doing right by customers and team members. My immediate focus is on building efficient, innovative people operations and tools that help employees and leaders succeed, along with talent programs that support agility, growth, and Flexential's position as an employer of choice."
Tyfting holds an MBA along with a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resources and Labour Relations from the University of British Columbia. Her educational foundation, coupled with her vast experience, reinforces her capability to elevate Flexential's HR initiatives and create a dynamic work environment.
Flexential aims to empower the IT journeys of complex businesses by offering customizable IT solutions tailored to meet the demanding requirements of high-density computing. Their services, which encompass colocation, cloud solutions, connectivity, data protection, and professional services, are anchored in more than 40 data centers across highly connected markets on a scalable 100Gbps+ private network backbone.
