Japan's Labor Research Institute Highlights Labor Consultant Roles in the AI Era

The Japan Labor Research Institute, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has taken significant steps to showcase the evolving role of labor consultants in the AI era. CEO Keiichi Okuyama recently participated in a webinar hosted by Asahi Life Insurance in March 2026, discussing the impact of AI on labor consulting. In addition, the institute sponsored a cultural festival at the N High School and N Junior High School, which is part of the Kadokawa Dwango Group, held at Makuhari Messe in April 2026. This article explores these initiatives that underline the importance of work standardization and the institute's commitment to supporting the next generation, including the educational sector.

The Imperative of Work Standardization in the AI Age

As businesses increasingly adopt AI for automation, procedures and consultation work typically handled by labor consultants are also undergoing transformations. However, the need for expert intervention in human resource management, particularly in areas like work improvement and standardization, has never been more critical.

The Japan Labor Research Institute has positioned its patented multitasking management system, called "best job," at the heart of its strategy. This system is designed to enhance visibility in work processes and boost overall productivity. Recently, the company began offering consulting services focused on creating standardized business recipes to guide the practical application of the "best job" system in workplaces.

Report on Asahi Life Online Seminar

On March 25, 2026, Okuyama delivered a presentation at the Asahi Life online seminar aimed at supporting labor consultants. The seminar attracted a wide audience, primarily composed of labor consultants themselves. In his speech, entitled "New Roles and Growth Strategies for Labor Consultants in the AI Era," Okuyama highlighted three emerging value areas for labor consultants as traditional tasks become automated: work improvement support, the establishment of work management systems, and work standardization.

He elaborated on how standardizing work processes can yield multiple benefits, including reducing human errors, shortening training times, ensuring business continuity (BCP), and stabilizing organizational structures. The seminar's recorded session is now available on the company’s official YouTube channel for broader accessibility.

Sponsorship of N High School Cultural Festival

On April 25-26, 2026, the Japan Labor Research Institute actively participated as a sponsor in the cultural festival organized by the N High School and N Junior High School, part of the Kadokawa Dwango Group, within the framework of the NicoNico Choukai 2026 held at Makuhari Messe. With an official attendance of over 138,228 visitors, the institute showcased its commitment to youth engagement and education.

The sponsorship began after the institute received a sponsorship request in December 2025. By mid-January, Okuyama and his team met with student representatives and cultural festival committee members to learn about their projects. Impressed by the enthusiasm and initiative of the students, the decision to sponsor followed shortly thereafter. The institute’s branding was prominently displayed at the event, both at booths and online.

The "best job" multitasking system offers functionalities that promote visibility, standardization of work recipes, and facilitates sharing of employee thoughts and awareness. These features aim to enhance psychological safety and create a conducive work environment. A supportive educational space is just as crucial for young people striving to learn and test their creativity.

This sponsorship embodies the institute's commitment to foster the challenges faced by younger generations while sharing its insights on labor relations into the educational sector.

Comments from the CEO

"In an age where routine tasks are replaced by AI, understanding people and their work becomes pivotal. Supporting the standardization of work processes that align with on-ground realities is the true mission of labor consultants and human resource practitioners. Our multitasking management system 'best job' serves as a foundation for this work, along with our new consulting services on work standardization. From this base, we will continue to share our insights and actions with both corporate practice and the educational environment," commented Keiichi Okuyama, CEO of Japan Labor Research Institute.

Future Outlook

The Japan Labor Research Institute is committed to continuous external communication regarding work standardization and AI utilization. It aims to enhance awareness in both corporate and educational sectors while expanding the reach of its "best job" system and consulting services for work improvement. Future initiatives will include more webinars, article publications, and guides focused on improving workplace environments and overall company health.
