NRMP to Host 2025 Transition to Residency Conference
The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) has announced its annual conference, the "Transition to Residency: Conversations Across the Medical Education Continuum," which will take place on
October 11-12, 2025 in
Washington D.C. This event is a significant gathering of medical education professionals, aimed at discussing various strategies and innovations to enhance the transition to residency.
As the NRMP celebrates a decade of facilitating this meeting, the conference theme for this year is
"Changing World. Changing Vision," which emphasizes the evolving health priorities in the nation and their impact on medical education. The discussions will focus on how both undergraduate medical education (UME) and graduate medical education (GME) sectors can advocate for improved access and training, and collectively reflect on past achievements while striving for a more robust transition system for the future.
According to
Donna L. Lamb, DHSc, MBA, BSN, the President and CEO of NRMP, this conference serves as a crucial platform for medical education stakeholders to unite in tackling the challenges presented by today’s rapidly evolving landscape while also encouraging the development of innovative education and training solutions for future physicians.
This year’s lineup of plenary speakers includes prominent figures in the field such as:
- - Candice Chen, MD, MPH, Associate Administrator of the Bureau of Health Workforce at the Health Resources and Services Administration.
- - Peter Hotez, MD, PhD, Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, who is also known for his extensive work in vaccine development and tropical medicine.
- - Abraham Nussbaum, MD, a physician and Chief Education Officer at Denver Health, who also serves as a teacher and professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
During the conference, attendees will participate in diverse breakout sessions that cover various topics, including the role of artificial intelligence and other technologies in recruitment, training, and practice, as well as discussions on faculty and learner wellness. Another highlight will be the philanthropy event supporting the United Way National Capital Area, along with networking opportunities featuring a poster presentation followed by a cocktail reception.
Interested participants can access the full agenda and breakout session details on the
