Okayama University Launches MISIP 2025
The Okayama University Institute of Planetary Material Research in Misasa Town, Tottori Prefecture, is set to host the Misasa International Student Internship Program (MISIP) from July 1 to August 7, 2025. This program is designed to nurture the next generation of researchers and to build international networks in the field of planetary science.
Established in 2005, MISIP has successfully trained over 170 interns from various countries, helping them to engage in groundbreaking research projects. This year, eight students from seven different countries—including China, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, the UK, Colombia, and India—will participate in three research projects proposed by the faculty at the institute.
On the first day of the program, an orientation session was held, followed by a welcome lunch and a lab tour. Pekham Ganguly, a second-year master's student from Techno India University, expressed his excitement about the internship. He stated, "I am thrilled to participate in this internship program and explore fascinating research on planetary science with international peers. Additionally, I look forward to experiencing the beautiful nature and rich culture of Japan."
The MISIP program not only focuses on academic excellence but also emphasizes the significance of cultural exchange, providing interns with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Japanese customs and landscapes. The program's ongoing activities and progress will be documented and shared on the Institute of Planetary Material Research's official website, allowing everyone to follow the students' journey.
The commencement of the internship symbolizes Okayama University’s commitment to fostering innovative research and collaborations. With its emphasis on building a strong academic community that engages with global challenges, the university has established itself as a central hub for cutting-edge research.
As part of a larger initiative, Okayama University is recognized as a 'community core and distinctive research university,' participating in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's J-PEAKS program, which promotes collaborative endeavors to address societal issues.
Moreover, the university’s strategy includes promoting sustainable development goals (SDGs) as part of its research agenda. With the backing of international partnerships and a focus on sustainability, Okayama University aims to contribute significantly to global innovation and societal transformation.
