From May 25 to 29, 2025, the 20th Western China International Fair took place in Chengdu, centered around the theme "Deepen Reform for More Momentum, Expand Openness for Greater Growth." This year marks a significant milestone as it commemorates the 25th anniversary of the fair, attracting more than 3,000 companies from 62 countries and regions, including first-time participants like Bolivia, Cuba, and Nicaragua.
A Platform for Collaboration
Representatives from the honored guest countries, Hungary and Laos, revealed that they established potential partnerships with various Chinese enterprises through the fair, highlighting the broad collaborative opportunities available with western China in cultural exchanges, tourism, technology, and gastronomy. One of the standout presentations was the next-generation artificial sun, dubbed China's HL-3, along with other groundbreaking technologies and products that showcased the advanced manufacturing capabilities and innovative potential of western China.
Currently, it is noteworthy that 13 out of 80 national advanced manufacturing clusters are located in western provinces. This positions the region as a critical player in China's economic landscape, offering a wealth of opportunity for both domestic and international investors.
Investment Projects and Economic Events
During the fair, diverse entities from western China signed 416 investment cooperation projects valued at a staggering 354.3 billion yuan with both domestic and foreign investors. Business and economic events aimed at networking, including the "Invest in Sichuan" symposium (Italian section) and the 15th Western China International Conference on Supplier Projects, provided a broader platform for exchange and collaboration among Chinese and international businesses.
Through these initiatives, the fair not only highlights the appeal of western China but also fosters relationships that can lead to mutual growth and respect among nations. The robust participation underlines the significance of global interconnectedness in the era of economic transformation and innovation.
In conclusion, the fair serves as a vital platform for expanding external openness and deepening exchange and cooperation, essential for fostering a vibrant economic environment that aligns with contemporary global trends. The insights gained and partnerships formed at this event are poised to drive impactful changes in the years to come.
