Wesco Acquires Newark Engineering Group to Expand Global Data Center Cooling Services

Wesco International Expands Its Reach with Newark Engineering Group Acquisition

On June 8, 2026, Wesco International (NYSE: WCC), a renowned leader in business-to-business distribution and logistics, revealed its plans to acquire Newark Engineering Group, a well-established Singapore-based provider of engineered cooling solutions and lifecycle services for data centers. This strategic move is set to enhance Wesco's capabilities in the essential area of data center cooling while reinforcing its presence in Southeast Asia, a rapidly growing market.

Acquisition Details

Under the terms of the agreement, Wesco will purchase 100% of Newark for a purchase price of 175 million Singapore dollars, roughly equivalent to 136 million USD. This acquisition marks a significant step for Wesco in integrating advanced thermal management systems crucial for data center operations.

Newark specializes in a range of services, including the design, supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of cutting-edge cooling systems that are vital for the performance and reliability of data centers. Their customer base spans several countries in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, where they deliver integrated solutions through all stages of the data center lifecycle—from initial design and setup to ongoing maintenance and optimization.

Growth Opportunities

John Engel, the Chairman, President, and CEO of Wesco, expressed optimism about this acquisition. He stated that Newark’s expertise in providing integrated, turnkey cooling solutions, along with its strong client relationships—especially with Fortune 500 companies—would significantly bolster Wesco’s operations. Engel emphasized, “This acquisition expands our participation in the data center value chain, particularly in engineered cooling and lifecycle services, and provides a robust growth platform in Southeast Asia.”

With this acquisition, Wesco aims to leverage its global customer relationships and diverse solutions portfolio to drive above-market growth. Engel further highlighted that the combined expertise of Wesco and Newark is expected to enhance their growth profile, optimize margins, and secure attractive returns in the first year post-acquisition.

Strategic Integration and Future Prospects

The merger is anticipated to create substantial commercial opportunities. By combining Newark’s established regional customer relationships with Wesco’s global network, the companies expect to broaden their access to hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation data center customers. This effort will also aim at increasing the share of wallet through cross-selling electrical, communications, and supply chain solutions present in Newark’s installed base.

In 2025, Newark generated approximately 60 million USD in revenue and is projected to boost Wesco’s EBITDA margins, further enhancing the value of the Wesco portfolio—especially as the acquisition involves a purchase multiple that is favorable compared to Wesco’s current trading multiple.

Fanny Lee, Managing Director of Newark Engineering Group, stated, “Partnering with Wesco will accelerate our growth and enhance our ability to serve data center customers across Southeast Asia. Wesco's global platform and complementary capabilities will allow us to broaden our solutions portfolio, access new customers, and scale the business.”

Looking Ahead

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, aligning with customary regulatory approvals and closing protocols. This acquisition is not just a financial transaction; it’s a strategic partnership aimed at pushing the boundaries of data center services in an increasingly competitive market.
