Vispero Welcomes a New Leader in Accessibility Technologies
In a significant move towards fostering innovation and growth, Vispero®, the world leader in assistive technology solutions, has appointed
Rhonda Bassett-Spiers as its new
Chief Executive Officer. This leadership change, effective immediately, marks a pivotal moment for the company, which has a storied legacy of supporting individuals with visual impairments.
With over 25 years of robust experience in technology and software transformations, Rhonda brings a wealth of knowledge to Vispero. Previously serving as CEO of
Telestream, she was instrumental in modernizing product lines and redefining market strategies. Her earlier tenure as President and CEO of
iTradeNetwork saw her successfully launch new solutions that expanded the company's global market reach. Her leadership expertise is further complemented by her role as Lead Independent Director at
Quorum, where she oversaw corporate governance and strategy for the public affairs software provider.
In her first statement as CEO, Rhonda expressed her excitement about the responsibilities that lie ahead, acknowledging the importance of Vispero's mission. "I am honored to lead this talented team as we expand our impact and global reach," stated Rhonda. "Together, we will continue to drive innovative solutions that enable people who are blind or visually impaired to live, work, and communicate without barriers."
Kevin Collins, the Chairman of the Board at Vispero, echoed the sentiment, highlighting Rhonda's proven leadership, customer-centric approach, and exceptional track record in the industry. "Her strategic vision, global experience, and operational expertise make her the ideal leader to guide Vispero as we enhance operational excellence and deliver impactful assistive technology solutions on a larger scale."
This appointment coincides with the
30th anniversary of Vispero and the iconic
JAWS® (Job Access With Speech), the world’s most widely used screen reader software. Since its launch in 1995, JAWS has revolutionized access to digital information for blind and visually impaired individuals, thereby transforming their ability to work independently. The milestone reinforces Vispero's continuous commitment to innovation in accessibility, a legacy that Rhonda will carry into the next phase of the company's journey.
Vispero's portfolio includes renowned brands such as
Freedom Scientific,
TPGi,
Enhanced Vision, and
Optelec, each known for their history of innovation and commitment to delivering reliable assistive products. Their diverse offerings, particularly the leading screen reading software JAWS for Windows, underscore the company's status as the foremost provider of assistive technology for individuals with visual impairments.
The transition in leadership is seen not merely as a change at the helm but as a stepping stone towards a future where accessibility is a cornerstone of technological advancement.
