New Subscription-Based Food Drive Donation Program from Palsystem Kanagawa
Starting June 1, Palsystem Kanagawa, based in Yokohama's Kohoku Ward, is set to launch an innovative approach to food donations. Their new program allows individuals to purchase original Palsystem products at a price of just 500 yen and donate them through what's called the "Omoiyari Set." This set includes a variety of Palsystem products like spaghetti, rice packs, and condiments that will be distributed to food banks and support organizations.
Quality Ingredients, Meaningful Donations
The "Omoiyari Set," sold for 500 yen (tax included), offers popular items such as "Directly Sourced Rice (Pack) - Akita Komachi," "Directly Sourced Wheat Udon," and "Ready-to-Use Curry (Flake Type)". Each product is carefully chosen from those manufactured using high-quality ingredients sourced directly from trusted partners. These items are particularly well-received in children's cafeterias and other community support settings.
This initiative came in response to community feedback expressing a desire to contribute to food drives, even when individuals do not have any food items readily available to donate. Besides the one-time donation order, users can also enroll in an annual subscription that allows them to make a monthly donation across ten installments. The number of total orders dictates how Palsystem Kanagawa will curate the products to send as donations to the food drive.
Collaborating with Local Food Banks
The donated products will be handed over to the non-profit Food Bank Kanagawa, which is operated by a consortium of 12 organizations, including Palsystem Kanagawa and local cooperatives. These donations will directly aid organizations and groups that support individuals in need, including those running children's cafeterias.
Achievements and Future Goals
Since its inception in 2022, the "Omoiyari Set" program has seen tremendous growth. In 2025, it managed to secure orders for over 25,000 sets, equivalent to approximately 11 tons of food. The initiative’s involvement with the prefectural government’s “Future Support Action” program has reinforced the community's commitment to social responsibility, where a portion of the sales proceeds will also be donated to designated NPOs working on regional issues.
For the 2025 fiscal year, the project contributed 182,650 yen to the “Future Support Action” through its initiatives. This funding is pivotal for local NPOs like the Second League Kanagawa, which aids in transportation costs for donated foods provided to children's cafeterias and other support groups.
Commitment to Community Engagement
Palsystem Kanagawa continues its commitment to fostering strong ties with local governments and organizations to enhance community welfare. The aim is to create an inclusive environment where no one is left behind.
