Organized by Sapporo Beer, a subsidiary of Sapporo Holdings, the festival marks the 41st anniversary of the legendary hop Sorachi Ace, which was registered in 1984. This annual event celebrates the unique flavor and history of Sorachi Ace, allowing beer lovers to connect over their shared passion.

Since its inaugural event in 2019, following the year-round release of the beer Sapporo SORACHI 1984, the festival has become a highly anticipated gathering. While previous years featured online broadcasts, this year's event will welcome fans in person, enhancing the communal atmosphere.

Event Highlights

One of the festival's signature moments will occur at 7:08:04 PM, where participants will raise a glass together to commemorate the birth year of Sorachi Ace. This special toast will also be streamed live on YouTube, allowing fans across the country to join in the celebration. Attendees can look forward to additional activities including:

• - A showcase of calligraphy inspired by SORACHI 1984 by calligrapher Taku Kosugi.
• - A section featuring Chef Noboru Shimokuni, the food ambassador from Asahikawa, introducing dishes that pair perfectly with SORACHI 1984.
• - A musical performance themed around SORACHI 1984 by Yoshihiro Tsujimoto, a renowned clarinet and saxophonist.
• - A special new Rakugo performance by Tsuruko Hayashiya, who is notable for becoming the first woman to achieve the rank of Shin'uchi in 2024, tailored specifically for SORACHI 1984.

Participation Details

Fans eager to join the celebration can participate in one of two ways:
1. In-Person Participation: Individuals wishing to attend the festival in person should apply through the designated URL. Due to limited spaces, a lottery will determine attendance. Details include:

- Reservation Registration: Until September 1 at noon
- Participation Fee: ¥5,000 (tax included)
- Number of Participants: Approximately 40
- The fee includes unlimited SORACHI 1984, a welcome drink, and food.
2. Online Viewing: For those unable to attend, the event will be streamed from 7:00 PM to 7:20 PM at the provided YouTube link, allowing everyone to enjoy the festivities from the comfort of their homes.
