AtkinsRéalis Appoints Matt Talley as Senior VP for Resilience and Emergency Management
AtkinsRéalis Appoints Matt Talley to Lead Emergency Management Efforts
AtkinsRéalis, a global leader in engineering services with a solid reputation in nuclear projects, recently announced the hiring of Matt Talley as the Senior Vice President of Resilience and Emergency Management, focused on enhancing operations in both the U.S. and Latin America. This strategic move underscores the company’s commitment to disaster recovery and humanitarian aid initiatives.
A Wealth of Experience
Matt Talley brings nearly thirty years of substantial experience to his new role. His expertise spans strategy, business growth, and operational management across various sectors, including infrastructure and disaster recovery. Notably, he previously held prestigious positions within FEMA, overseeing significant federal programs aimed at improving national recovery capabilities. His leadership under these programs has honed his abilities to manage multi-billion-dollar portfolios effectively.
Steve Morriss, President of U.S., Latin America, and Minerals & Metals at AtkinsRéalis, expressed confidence in Matt’s capabilities, stating, “Matt’s proven track record in transforming businesses and fostering a culture of inclusive leadership aligns perfectly with our vision of driving impactful results. His leadership will help communities recover and flourish after confronting crises.”
An Accomplished Career
Before joining AtkinsRéalis, Talley was a Senior Vice President at AECOM, where he was instrumental in establishing a well-recognized humanitarian business worth over $300 million. His role involved leading expansive recovery efforts for FEMA, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and various state and local governments.
Among the remarkable projects Talley oversaw was a $1 billion humanitarian emergency shelter operation in Pomona, California, which provided refuge for more than 10,000 unaccompanied migrant children during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. Most recently, he designed and led the City of Los Angeles’ Wildlife Recovery Program following the devastating Palisades wildfire earlier this year.
Academic Credentials
Matt's academic background is equally impressive. He graduated from The College of William and Mary with a degree in finance before pursuing a dual degree in Public Policy and Law at George Mason University. This combination of education and hands-on experience equips him with the insights and tools necessary to bridge effective policies with organizational goals.
AtkinsRéalis' Vision for the Future
AtkinsRéalis is built upon decades of engineering excellence and a commitment to innovative solutions. Their integrated approach brings together disparate organizational strands with a focus on sustainable development and community empowerment. The recent hiring of Talley reflects their determination to enhance their U.S. operations, reinforcing their mission to deliver comprehensive services throughout the life cycle of infrastructure projects.
With Talley at the helm of Resilience and Emergency Management, AtkinsRéalis aims to fortify its position as a frontrunner in the engineering sector, offering world-class solutions that not only address immediate recovery needs but also promote long-term stability and growth in communities affected by disasters.
