Glenn Dubin and Eva Andersson-Dubin Make Significant Contribution to New York Climate Exchange
Glenn Dubin and Eva Andersson-Dubin's Generous Support for the New York Climate Exchange
The New York Climate Exchange (The Exchange), a pioneering organization dedicated to advancing innovative climate solutions, has received a remarkable $10 million gift from Glenn Dubin and his wife, Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin. This significant pledge is set to bolster The Exchange's essential capital projects, faculty research initiatives, community programs, student activities, and various operational endeavors.
In its inaugural year, The Exchange has demonstrated the potential of its unique collaborative network to drive impactful climate solutions. Stephen Hammer, CEO of The Exchange, expressed gratitude towards the Dubin Family Foundation, stating, "This generous gift will enable us to dramatically expand our impact in addressing pressing climate challenges and seizing opportunities."
Richard L. McCormick, who serves as Co-Chair of The New York Climate Exchange Board and Interim President of Stony Brook University, emphasized the critical role The Exchange plays in fostering collaboration among researchers and experts from various disciplines. He stated, "We are incredibly thankful to Glenn and Eva for their partnership and investment in our crucial work, which is rooted in a global hub for education, research, and action."
The allocation of this substantial gift unlocks an additional $10 million from the Simons Foundation's matching gift challenge, effectively doubling the total impact to $20 million. Glenn Dubin articulated the growing necessity for collaborative climate solutions, saying, "The need for innovative strategies to combat climate challenges becomes more evident every day. We believe The Exchange can be a catalyst for transformative progress in this critical area."
The Exchange was established after a rigorous two-year selection process, aimed at identifying a standout educational and research partner to lead the development and scaling of climate solutions for both New York City and the broader global community. Plans are underway for a state-of-the-art facility on Governors Island, anticipated to open in 2028.
