Based at the firm's Valencia office, her primary focus will be on spearheading one of the two newly established teams responsible for product launch strategies. This move is part of a broader initiative aimed at enabling Datamaran to pivot towards a more customer-centric operational model, which is segmented to tap into high-growth areas effectively.
Marlies Gevaert comes to Datamaran with a rich background that spans over 16 years, intertwining her expertise in regulatory management and business development. Her experience also includes nearly six years at EDICOM, a leading provider of software solutions specializing in e-invoicing and VAT compliance, where she launched and developed the company’s first commercial team in the Benelux region. Furthermore, Gevaert's early career saw her navigate the complex realms of sustainable development policies and industrial regulation as an advisor for the European Union and working directly within the European Parliament.
"Marlies has navigated her career from both sides of the table, operating within EU regulatory bodies and in commercial enterprises that translate regulation into value for businesses," said Nick Geurds, Revenue Director at Datamaran. He added, "This unique blend makes her the right leader for our clients during these challenging times, providing insights that are crucial for success in today’s dynamic regulatory landscape."
As Gevaert steps into her new role, her vision aligns perfectly with Datamaran's mission to transform environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges into tangible value. "Throughout my career, I've dedicated myself to helping companies view ESG and regulatory compliance not merely as burdens, but as significant opportunities for growth," Gevaert noted. "Datamaran's AI-driven approach to governance fits seamlessly into this outlook, as it empowers businesses to rapidly adapt to the evolving regulations they face. I am eager to showcase our capabilities in this arena."
Gevaert's appointment marks a critical phase for Datamaran, reflecting its commitment to fostering resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing regulatory environment. As businesses are increasingly called upon to address ESG issues amidst regulatory shifts, having a leader with both substantive industry knowledge and a robust operational background will be imperative in guiding clients through these transitions effectively.
With Gevaert at the helm, clients can expect enhanced support in navigating the regulatory landscape with agility, ensuring they remain compliant while also harnessing the potential for growth that lies within these challenges. Her leadership promises to create new pathways for both Datamaran and its clients, fostering innovation and collaboration within a rapidly evolving marketplace.
