StellaON Achieves TÜV SÜD Certification for Power Systems in Germany's Grids

StellaON Receives TÜV SÜD Certification for Advanced Power Conversion Systems

In a major development for energy storage technology, SINEXCEL has announced that its StellaON 1250K/1575K power conversion systems (PCS) have successfully obtained TÜV SÜD unit certification. This landmark achievement confirms that StellaON meets the stringent VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120, and 4130 standards required for integration into Germany’s medium, high, and extra-high voltage grids. This certification is particularly significant as it validates the system's capability to function effectively in utility-scale battery storage projects across various grid levels.

Significance of TÜV SÜD Certification

The TÜV SÜD certification serves as a critical endorsement for device manufacturers and energy storage solution providers. It assesses integral elements of the StellaON PCS, including how these systems behave during grid faults, manage active and reactive power control, and respond to frequency fluctuations. The certification process integrates rigorous FGW TR3 testing and TR4 simulation model validation under the TR8 program, reinforcing the systems' reliability in real-world applications.

The importance of compliance with the three standards—VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120, and 4130—cannot be overstated. These standards cater to connectivity requirements from distribution networks up to 220 kV transmission systems, focusing on maintaining the stability of the overall power supply network. Specifically, VDE-AR-N 4130's connection requirements support networks functioning at voltages of 220 kV and above, underscoring the necessity for robust system performance in higher voltage applications.

Features of StellaON 1250K/1575K

The StellaON 1250K/1575K PCS stand out with a black-start capability and an impressive efficiency rating of 98.5% at full load. It can maintain its rated output even at ambient temperatures reaching 55°C without a reduction in performance, showcasing its advanced cooling mechanisms. Additionally, it is engineered to deliver 1.5 times its rated power for intervals lasting up to 60 seconds. This feature is particularly beneficial for projects requiring significant energy surges during peak demand periods.

Another remarkable attribute of the StellaON PCS is its variable-speed cooling system, which keeps operational noise levels at a minimal 65 dB. This characteristic is essential for installations in locations where acoustic requirements might restrict equipment placement options, thereby providing flexibility to developers and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors.

With the TÜV SÜD certification in hand, developers can confidently select the PCS and prepare the necessary technical specifications tailored for specific connection voltages. This certification also establishes a framework for plant-level certification and connection approval requirements, although project-specific designs will still necessitate separate evaluations.

Global Expansion and Future Prospects

StellaON has also previously obtained EU-wide certifications, along with national certifications in Germany and other countries, including Poland and Romania. The systems are sanctioned for deployment across several European markets, including Belgium and the Netherlands, indicating a robust export strategy. Certification processes are currently ongoing in the United States, Spain, Austria, and Chile, with projected completion by the end of 2026, signaling an aggressive growth trend.

As of the first half of 2026, SINEXCEL has secured orders surpassing 500 megawatts, with over 15 projects related to StellaON in various stages, including system integration, delivery, and on-site commissioning across regions such as Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. Successful tests have confirmed the system's reliability in regions grappling with extreme heat and humidity, as well as in island microgrid setups, enhancing StellaON's suitability for diverse environmental conditions.

Founded in 2007, SINEXCEL has positioned itself as an innovator within the energy sector, contributing notably through its energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and power quality solutions. With an impressive portfolio of 17 gigawatts of installed storage and partnerships with leading industry players, SINEXCEL aims to empower broader energy solutions that promote sustainability and efficiency worldwide.
