Conclusion of the Games of the Future 2025

The Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025, powered by ADNOC, officially wrapped up after six days filled with exhilarating competition, action, and entertainment that blurred the lines between traditional sports, technology, and interactive experiences. Held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from December 18 to 23, the event attracted thousands of spectators on-site and millions more from around the globe, marking a significant milestone for the burgeoning phygital movement.

More than 850 participants from over 60 countries engaged in 11 distinct categories, showcasing phygital sports, tech sports, and esports. The broad range of age demographics, with competitors as young as 13 and as seasoned as 72, highlighted the inclusive and intergenerational appeal of the Games.

During the tournament, high-energy competitions showcased athletic prowess combined with strategic gameplay and technological innovation. Robotics competitions, like the Battle of Robots, transported 2.48 tons of machinery to Abu Dhabi, thrilling the audience. Additionally, well-known esports tournaments featured games such as Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), and a Battle Royale format with Fortnite. Other phygital formats, such as Phygital Football and Basketball, captivated audiences and brought new excitement to the event.

One of the standout attractions was the Phygital Drone Racing events, which blended aerial skill with the fervor of traditional sports, resulting in a breathtaking spectacle. Furthermore, the regional debut of the VR-Game HADO Global Invitation introduced virtual competition to Middle Eastern audiences, enhancing the immersive experience and ensuring crowded stadiums. The successful merging of live sports with cutting-edge technology not only delivered fast-paced entertainment but also established a new standard for athletic events aimed at next-generation audiences.

Nis Hatt, CEO of Phygital International, expressed pride over the event's achievements. "The success of the Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025 shows what can be achieved when innovation and collaboration meet," he stated. The event's efficient and engaging format illustrates the promising alliance of physical performance, technology, and digital culture, inspiring a fresh wave of sports enthusiasts and athletes.

The coverage of the Games expanded its international reach, being broadcast live on a dedicated OTT platform, and supported by 27 global partners offering multilingual coverage across 13 languages. This unprecedented accessibility paved the way for the event to serve as a benchmark for digital sports broadcasting.

With the conclusion of the Abu Dhabi Games, the spotlight now shifts to Astana, Kazakhstan, which will host the Games of the Future 2026 next summer. In preparation, Astana is set to hold the Phygital Contenders tournaments in June, uniting local and international competitors across various disciplines. Phygital International has also announced the opening of bids for cities wishing to host the tournament in 2028, 2029, or 2030 as part of the Games' global expansion.

Nis Hatt emphasized, "The transition of the Phygital Flame to Astana marks an exciting chapter for the phygital movement and the Games of the Future. The upcoming Games will build on the remarkable foundation laid here in Abu Dhabi and push the boundaries of what phygital athletics can achieve on a global scale."
