Organized by the general incorporated association Burano from Ibaraki, this event supports families with children who require medical care. It will be held at the Snow Peak Shirakawa Kogen Camping Field in Tenei Village, Fukushima Prefecture. With assistance from the Nippon Foundation and the Japan Dental Association's charity project 'TOOTH FAIRY,' this camp promises a memorable experience for participating families.

For families with children who need medical care, such as those dependent on ventilators or tube feeding, outdoor activities like camping can often feel unattainable due to logistical challenges. Burano aims to create a society where camping is a possibility for everyone, regardless of medical needs. Since 2022, their 'INCLUSIVE CAMP' project has provided outdoor experiences tailored to these families, emphasizing safety and ease through the support of healthcare professionals.

Highlighted Features of the Event

1. Strong Medical Support and Collaboration with Snow Peak

A team of medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and nursery staff, will be present at the campsite. They ensure that the necessary medical equipment can be used and that emergency medical support is readily available. Additionally, with the cooperation of Snow Peak, high-quality camping gear, including their large shelter 'Landlock,' will be provided allowing families to enjoy an authentic camping experience without the burden of excessive luggage.

2. Interaction with Former Top Athletes from Nippon Foundation HEROs

The camp will feature former national athletes who are part of the Nippon Foundation HEROs initiative, aimed at resolving social issues through the power of sports. Participants will have the chance to interact with:

• - Miho Kurachi (Fencing, former Japan representative)
• - Katsuaki Susa (Boxing, participated in the London Olympics)
• - Ayaka Tadanoh (Karate, former Japan representative)

This program, which was a hit at last year's camp, allows children, especially siblings who usually take a back seat in caring roles, to engage actively and joyfully in sports through simple fencing and boxing activities, offering them a unique opportunity to enjoy sports to the fullest.

3. Barrier-Free Family Activities: Canoeing and Outdoor Fun

Typically, during family outings, one parent often has to take on the caregiving role, limiting opportunities for everyone to enjoy together. At the inclusive camp, with support from professionals and staff, children with severe disabilities or who need medical care can safely participate in canoeing activities. The event ensures that families can engage in activities together, creating lasting memories and enjoyable experiences.
